Damn man, I just got my brand new 2007 Nissan Maxima a week ago, and already got hit..My dad took it to taco bell, come outside and some lady backed up into the front bumper..The thing is, the damage isn't bad enough to lets say call the insurance, just scratches, but the lady doesn't want to pay outside of insurance..So basically, my only option is insurance company, who is just going to raise my premium, so I'm going to end up paying for it my self..And the lady who hit me, doesn't want to pay on the side..So basically that bitch gets away with hitting my car and doesn't have to pay shit..I mean how the hell is this possible, if someone hits you car there is no way you insurance should go up..Just makes me mad!
If the lady doesn't have insurance and you go through your insurance then your insurance company will try to get money of the person respondsible. Make sure you have witnesses as it can get ugly if she denies everything.
Check to see if you can file directly with her insurance company. A good insurance company will not jack your rate up for something like that.
She has insurance, its just if I report something this small my rates will go up..So I asked her to pay like 150-200 on the side, she replied with "no I just got out of the hospital, I have bills to pay, call your insurance company"..So I mean her rates will go up to, so I don't see why she won't pay on the side..Pisses me off that if I don't go through insurance she will get away hitting my car and doesn't have to pay for it..
She doesn't really have a choice, if you get it fixed your insurance company will go after hers or her. My car got hit just weeks to a few months after I bought it. My insurance did not go up at all as it was not my fault, other driver had to pay for it all. State by state and situations can differ of course.
I ran into the same situation a year ago... insurance companies gave me a headache, finally i gave up and now live with the 3 long scratches in my bumper...
yeah not sure what too do, I'm going to call her tomorrow and tell her its smarter to pay me on the side, or her rates are going to go up.
Thats why people should drive with just life insurance. Its perfectly acceptable in all state I believe.Your rates don't go up if your in a bump kind of accident. But you do have to pay everything in your cash though XD.
If that's the case I would hate to be driving in the US. Here, everyone is required to have car insurance or you can be slapped with a $5000 fine if you get caught. Also, the majority of the time your rates won't go up as long as it's not your fault.
No it is not. The few states where it is you have to have enough cash on hand instead of insurance. You got the several hundred grand on hand?
Hey in Ohio they don't care if you only have Life insurance, and you drive or at least i hope so LOL!
I know the felling i just go my new superb car and allredy hit it a bit Lucky the insurance will repaier it ....
but i think the insurance company will not raise the premium too much since it's just a small accident. normally they will raise a lot when you claim till your limit amount. but if your insurance company for a deal like will chrage you less if you never have any accident. I think you just let it go. (if it's really not a big scratch) and hope if you report it that lady will not do anything stupid to make the case worse. wish you all good luck.
