The only problem with your post is 1. Most advertisers increase 4th quarter budgets (Adsense Revenue Pool increases ) to make extra sales during the holidays. 2. People who click paid ads convert at a higher percentage than those who use organic SERP. Most who click paid ads know they will be taken to a site where they can purchase the product or service they were looking for. 3. Most advertisers have stated they will be cutting budgets drastically (Adsense Revenue Pool decreases severely) moving into 1st quarter 2009. What that means is if you think your Adsense revenues are low now,....you will be shocked at how poor the 1st quarter of next year will be. The correct part is you should expect 0.02 clicks for quite a while.
SEM Advance is correct. If you want to make money in January, you better seriously consider doubling your traffic by then.
Sadly it is not something I want to be correct about. You are right cutting down the amount of ad blocks will usually generate higher pay results. And going into next year people should work hard on developing other revenue streams..
So far so good on removing ad blocks. It somewhat stabilized the CPM. You have to consider even Google is finally tightening the belt. They've even laid off people for the first time since inception. It's every man for himself and Google needs to make numbers in order to maintain their market cap. Who do you think will come out ahead? As to "Hans", who made the pretentious speech in this thread about "working hard." Kid, I've worked hard my whole life since the age of 9, and hard work alone has never been enough. My wife and I put in 14 hours a day 7 days a week on this internet job and we're still facing declines. It's not because I lack talent, knowledge, or determination. There's only so much you can do in a global lagging economy.
Don't be so quick to blame the economy. There have been a few very aggressive Adwords advertisers who are costing many of us the increased revenue we would normally make during Christmas. Rather than bring up the conversation here - just visit the on-going conversation on Google's support forum - http://www.google.com/support/forum...a9&hl=en&fid=1971df66dffac5a900045d909ad0de33
YMC - I too have had TONS of these diet ads, and am seeing them in lots of unrelated niches not related to nutrition or food. Thanks for the informative post. Lexiseek - I am a big advocate of having only 1 or 2 adblocks per site. Glad it is helping. Semadvance - my post doesn't really conflict with your own. My responses: 1.) This would depend on your niche. Jewelry stores for example, expect to do 40% of their year in the month of December. Other niches, no, and this year, I am seeing lower quality ads in general, so I have to suspect advertisers are holding back NOW. 2.) Agreed, but in my adwords campaign, I am not spending as much as last year to get traffic to my e-comm sites. Could this be related - there's just not as much competition for certain keywords in general? 3.) Where have you seen that posted? Let me know, I'd be interested to read up on this. And I didn't say you should expect 2 cent clicks for a awhile .. you should plan it as a given in an Adsense business model. All these folks chasing the high-paying niches have to expect a great deal of volatility. If you plan a model around 2 cent clicks in the first place, you will have an idea of just how much traffic you will need to drive through your sites to make decent $$$$. As for 1st quarter 2009, I expect Jan to be low, but I think things will upswing from that point. I just continue to put out content to try to mitigate the effects of lower CTR & eCPM. ~tasty
Several factors have caused a decline in people's AdSense earnings. Some of these are: - Everyone - even those who are noobs online - have 'figured out' that the little blue links are just ads - and often lead to a very, very cheesy sales page - People are increasingly ad blind - Reduced clickable area - Worst financial crisis ever (at least for as long as any AdSense Publishers have lived) - etc Will it ever get as good as it was? Quite possibly. Perhaps not for some time, though.
Yeah! its may be problem of Economic Crises going all over the world plus might be your targetted keywords not paying that much now.
Ahaha never laught more than reading this post. I have a drop of revenue too it's ok cause this is adsense and in the wonderful world of the home buisness you have to work hard. I agree that you have to work harder than ever and this for the rest of your life. I just start more sites and change the content and try something new for making the same money that i've done before but this is the game. Stand up and work
Its called an economic depression. Advertisers aren't spending like they used to for a program thats filled with fraud and low returns.
The one big problem for Adsense publishers remains the same: since Google is non-transparent in their dealings with us, we only have speculation to wonder why so many are experiencing declines. Luckily, I don't have all my eggs in one basket, but a major decline in Adsense revenues would still suck. It's time for defensive Adsense optimization.
I did not think it did...just adding some things to consider. Actually Jewelry is hard to toss into the mix given that many who would have bought Jewelry for the holiday won't now so that they can feed their family and pay bills, Jewelry is a want not a need. Marketing now one should focus on need as opposed to want. Another issue is many people wont buy high end Jewelry online...I wouldn't even from Tiffany Jared Redbox etc. I want the ice in hand when I pay.... [/quote] Yes as the economy sags and small advetisers drop out CPC has lowered in some categories.. However lower CPC means little if youre not making the conversions I am a scholar consultant for GLG and each month speak to Angels & Investment Bankers from many of the top investment houses in NYC Chicago and SanFran. In addition I sit on the small business councils for Forbes & Fortune,so I have a some insite as to what some of the larger advertisers are planning for their Q1 budgets. I do agree the 0.02 cent payments have been around for some time and will always be a fact of the business....The best thing to do is increase traffic so we earn many many more clicks of $0.02 100 clicks x .02 = $2.00 10,000 clicks x .02 = $200.00 Big difference in the car you can afford..
I know i'm pretty new in this forum Just doing others things to just post but it will be beter garanteed
I am happy to report things are looking brighter my friends...Literally. I made a few changes to my website. and everything is right around normal, maybe a dollar off, but who cares right.. I guess the thing was, my visitors maybe got immune to same design. Like the Future President of US says--- Seek Change--- and your earnings will improve!
This is the best time to test different ad formats within the existing placement to get your numbers back to where they were. Change colors, change to all text, etc. Once things are good again, your revenue should rise higher than before. The other thing to watch out for are new bidders that serve bad ads. I've noticed every once in awhile new ads are tested on my site that look amateur from sites that don't always look trustworthy. I tend to add those sites to the list of unapproved advertisers so more trustworthy ads are shown.
Welcome to the economy; it sucks, but can't be avoided. I'm more worried about the recent USD-plunge :S
My ePCM was down in September Till November, but now they are going up. I guess it's because of the holiday shopping madness. fyi, my blog is gadget related, and there are so much people want to spend money in gadgets as the christmas gift
