WTF - #1 in Yahoo, but no Title/Description shown.

    Now this is strange.

One of my sites has made it to number 1 for its main keywords in Yahoo.

Unfortunately, I fear that it's being easily missed on the page because only 3 words are being shown on the title (my main keyphrase) and NO description is provided.

So while the other listings on the page show a title, 2 lines of description and a URL, mine shows an abbreviated 3 word title and a URL.

When my site was slightly lower in the rankings I was getting MORE traffic from Yahoo, and I think is was because all of the info (title, description, URL) was being shown on the page. Since I went to number one my listing is only 2 lines and my traffic went DOWN. Like I stated in this post title ... WTF?

In all the other SE's the full title, description and URL shows.

Has anybody had a similar experience with Yahoo?

    Thanks.

Are you sure you aren't in the Yahoo directory? Somebody may have added your site for you.

Thats the only thing they use to populate your titles, other than the actual title.

Is there a FREE Yahoo Directory? I can't imagine anyone would anonymously pay for me to get in.

I'll check the directory ... thanks.

Yes. Some regional Yahoo directories are free.

It can be a pain...I've been trying to get them to change my description for two years now. I've even stopped paying the bill and it still doesn't change.

Same thing just happened to me. Actually my Title is there and correct but there is no description.

124 millions search results for a phrase and I just shot up to number 3 and have no description shown.

    weird.

I had the unfortunate luck of having Yahoo index my homepage while the server was at peak load with holiday shoppers. I moved up 20 spots for one keyword, but instead of it listing my site title or description, it displayed Error and then the description was "an error has occurred while trying to access this site".

Thankfully I have enough backlinks, so it was reindexed correctly the next day.
