Yeah I definitely see what you mean. And I have had that thought. But then I think if I had some awesome technology and had something down to a science, the game would get boring for me and I'd want to take it to another level. Why NOT help others? It feels good to do that. There are always more ways to make money. As a consultant, as an affiliate, whatever. It seems if you KNOW how to make money, that skill never ends.

actually if your area of expertise becomes flooded, it does take a toll on ones profit margins & or ends, until you learn a new area or angle.

Everything starts with a new idea & then one must apply investment capital with marketing campaigns & dedicate them self in order to achieve the new goal.

While I agree, one success can lead to another, it's more along the lines of a new idea & venture capital (from the first idea) that send the 2nd idea in motion. Without either, the first just dies. :)

In addition, once the market is saturated by all the newbies looking for the same fast cash, that original idea is no longer original, nor a good start-up for anyone anymore!

We can never say that they let out all the ingredients of the recipe to success in one shot. There are books by many gurus (minus the fake ones) around, some of them being highly successful. Even if they do give you every bit of thing they did, it takes experience to find the best fit, and that comes with time. Most people think of overnight riches and sleep on it and get frustrated later because it didn't work out for them. And I guess the real moneymakers out there know this as well.

I think that a lot of people release their "next best thing" product after they have used it to its fullest and no longer produces the results it once was. So they've already moved on to the next "next big thing" and are selling what they used previously that no longer works as well.

If you set up a site to be a mere landing page for an affiliate product, it sure as hell can be profitable right from the start. Other than that, people who can turn up a significant profit within a week of opening their site either did it through smart advertising & networking or they bragged about making profit within a week of opening (the John Chow paradigm).

That's a good point Ikaruga. His home page definitely isn't just a landing page for some affiliate program. It's just a blog...

And it made me wonder. What do you think he'll be selling to make the site profitable?

It's easily possible to get a lot of traffic within a day; with exceptional ad-placement and a hungry niche, sure, this could work...

Again, it would boil down to your investment capital (marketing Budget), as to how fast your targeted traffic builds. Lets not forget that free is free for a reason, so free traffic sources are 9 times out of 10 not very targeted. The key is conversions, meaning that one would need VERY targeted campaigns attracting people already looking to buy.

I have seen allot of individuals using free traffic exchanges in an attempt to boost traffic by the thousands per day. Traffic is useless unless they convert. :)

I would personally rather have 100 visitors per day that convert at 5% than 1,000 visitors per day that convert at .001%. Once a visitor is lost, they normally Never return & spread the bad news on how disappointed they were. The ones that do buy & have success will spread a good word & start an organic frenzy, thus aiding in Repeat / Referral / Retention (The key elements to a successful business). :)

That is about right for short term traders, and maybe traders altogether. But obviously for the buy-and-hold strategy, it's profitable for 100%, if held longer than around 5 years-ish.

I'm sure if he is doing a lot of promotion and "live experiments" and such, he will be able to make it profitable in hours.

the whole idea is to build a list [and he hopes to get you in it, by promising that he will tell the details how he will make a ton of money], and then he will spam you with some affiliate offers from which he will make money, if you fall for it, and there you go.

I don't require you to subscribe to my list though :p

Youtube does work if you upload a video that "explains" something step by step. Use camtasia to explain how your site will benefit them and be methodical. Go through the whole process and you will get customers. You can even do this with a "clipshow" and narration or even just text call outs.

That's a really good idea. But how do you monetize it if you give it away for free?

I just started a blog a few days ago and it is already making money....It took me a few days to create and build up some content but yeah.It is VERY possible to build a site and make money off of it. I am obviously not going to retire anytime soon from this website but the money that it is making is nice compared to how much time and effort I put into it.

If your blog was a key player in making you money, I would think you would have placed it anchored in your sig link area rather than just an affiliate link to another money making scheme.

At any rate, I wish you the best with that :)

What's your blog about? Is it an internet marketing related site, or just a site in a "regular" niche?
