    With all honesty and due respect, you need to look no further. If your strictly looking for UK hosting i highly recommend the above two companies, as they have been in this field for a while and have great experience. I can vouge for this as I see them active in many forums that I am in as well.

    What I want is to host a private – in the first phase – proxy and to pay more as bandwidth is used. So a dedicated server is not an option now. I have budget but I will not pay too much for a proxy that generated 20 GB of traffic / mo.

    Why UK based ? because you live in UK ? that won't be any better because proxy site will need to fetch data from the destination sites (which will be mostly US based) before delivering them to you.

    You will just get the home page to load faster. nothing more.

    UK or US it's the same in proxy hosting. unless the sites that you will visit from the proxy are UK based as well ? maybe...
