WTB: Innovative Web Applications -- No Traffic/Revenue Needed

I am looking to buy innovative custom web applications that people have developed; traffic and revenue not required. The site must be entirely custom built and not based on available scripts. I am NOT looking for:

URL shorteners
Forums
Proxies
SEO/article sites
free (something) hosts
etc.

The site will be valued based on the uniqueness and marketability of the idea, the level of difficulty in producing the code, and the quality of the site design.

The best example of a site we purchased in the past for $X,XXX with almost no traffic is ByteMyCode.com. Our philosophy is that if the code and idea are good, we can generate the traffic.

I like TagHole.com but it is too similar to other Link Dump sites that are out there and does not have any really killer unique features.

RecipePub does not have the full feature set that we would need for a competitive recipes site. I really liked SnacksBy.com, their innovative social features, and their ingredients search/linking. That is a perfect example of the type of project that we are looking for. They were already bought out with almost no traffic by a larger company.

 

I would suggest you browse to sitepoint's marketplace - their auctions are much more down your street

That is more of an SEO type project than what we are looking for. If it was an AJAX comparison search site that also pulled feeds from several other affiliated stores for each product category (like Buy.com, BN.com, etc.) and was well coded so that new sites could easily be added/removed, then it would definitely be something we would be interested in at the low $X,XXX price range.

 

if you can point me in the direction of an api / datafeed for those extra stores, i would be able to add comparison shopping for the products and the like.

 

A number of people have PMed me with scripts that they are currently selling. We are not looking to buy rights to scripts that are currently floating around. Instead, we want sites based on proprietary code that is not available anywhere as a script.
