WTB: Hosting Company that knows how to host a "SubDomain"

Hello, I have been searching for a web host that can host a sub-domain, or sub-domains for me. I was looking at buying a dedicated server, or a Cloud hosting until a friend of mine suggested that the way this website is setup that I may be better off hosting sub-domains on different sites, and maybe just host my top level domain on a server. It makes since to me. Anyway I started this morning looking for a company that knows how to host a sub-domain. These are 2 responses I received:
    1. "Yes, I can setup an account for a sub domain. The only issue is when someone types in your sub domain, such as sub.domain.com, they will first be directed to the top level domain (domain.com) on your other hosting account. You will need to setup a redirect to our server for the sub domain."
    2. "sorry we do not do sub domains"
Now I have had providers to advertise to move a whole website for me in the past for free, and yet I can not find a company that will host a sub-domain. I understand that it is simple to do, but I do not know how.
Any web hosting companies out there that know how, and will help me do it. I am just looking for low priced shared hosting for the sub-domains.

It is simple to do. The only thing you would need to do is ensure the correct IP is in place for the subdomain on the main domains server. Not sure why some hosts would state it is not able to be done.

As Chris say, this is simple. It's easy-peasy to host a subdomain - even with a completely different host - if you know what you are doing and the host is helpful. Don't let your experience so far put you off, keep looking.

I was told it was, and was very surprised of the companies that told me the above. I understand that if their is any difficulty it is the company that host the top level domain. I have had a couple of companies now that say they will, but I will keep looking also. So please if you do hosting and willing to host a subdomain keep replying to this post.
I was even thinking that may be a good selling point for web hosting companies, I am sure that it will fit a niche market. A hosting company would not even have to give all the bells and whistles to do it. Basically just a control panel, and offer mySql databases. It does not even need mail, because the mail would go through the top level domain.
I always look in advance and just is soon is everything is ready to go, I will be buying web hosting.
I have received a whole lot of help from DPF and I don't think I could survive without it. I am buying a server, and the poor guy has been hounded like crazy by me, but I don't know a lot about web hosting, so I have to check out everything before I buy. I am sure he is reading this post and shaking his head. It is worth his time though and he knows it.
Keep giving me suggestions for a shared hosting that will host subdomains and I will keep looking. What I am going to do is host on is many shared hosting sites I can eventually. If they are dependable and stay up at least 99% of the time, someday I may buy hosting from them, if not by the end of the week, because there is no telling how many subdomains I may need in the future. What I am setting up, that 12,000 dollars will go a lot further using shared hosting, then paying 12,000 a year in either cloud hosting or a dedicated server. Plus, not all of the shared hosting will be coming out of the same server farm or the same company, so a major crash will not effect my whole web site. Plus, I can spread the money around. I know not all websites can do this, but for mine it will work. I will be balancing servers without having to balance the servers. I just need to weed out the companies that oversell.

I think any company knows. Take it easy and find paid shared web hosting solution from the web hosting company with good support.
If you need to host your customers - use reseller account.

The best way to setup something like that is to manage it through your DNS or zone file. Create an A record for each sub domain that points to its respective IP address.

Think services from enotchnetworks and serverpoint will be useful for the OP.
These companies run their services in the web master friendly way and their support is active around the clock.
