Just wondering, my current host has good cheap proxy plans but the proxies run very slowly. If I bought the Pro package from I whic, would I be running slowly? I'm presuming this is shared and I am currently looking at either vps or dedicated unless I can find this type of hosting that doesn't slow your site to a crawl. Thanks a lot, iwhic please let me know maybe give me some urls of proxies you are hosting.

 

IWhic runs 8 core servers, I highly doubt your proxy will run slow

Just want to mention that CPU is a very small part inside proxy webhosting! Not meaning to ruin anything here, but you guys make it sound like an 8 core CPU has everything to do with if your proxy runs slow or not!

 

Um, it pretty much does... Maybe the RAM has some effect, but IWhic has 8GB RAM (I think) as well...

 

iWhic can handle, they are already running a couple proxies

 

CPU & RAM do matter.

One thing that matters even more is the port.

If you have a shared 100 Mbit port for an 8-core server (whatever the RAM), & you host a 200 proxies on it.
Each proxy will have only 500 kbps shared, which is Slow.
Yes the server can hold that amount of proxies, but the speed will still be slow.

Btw, this thread is getting offtopic, I guess this should be in Site & Server Administration.
