The domain extension corresponds to Samoa although some registers say it means ".WebSite". I think they are not worth as much but they are not a waste of money since you can still get keyword rich domains.

stick to the .com, .net and .org or occasionally .info on a good one. The renewals are cheaper too.

I reckon they are worth buying ... if you find the right word, you can get a nice 4 letter website. there are also plenty of 3 letter domains available
( www.xyz.ws ), although these are $500 each. 4 letter domains are still around $9 each....

I bought around twenty. check out my list at www.itpays.ws ...

.ws domains don't have much of a value from the resale point of view. Register them only when all the tlds like .com, .net, .org, .info and .biz are registered or if you plan to develop them into websites.

I agree, .ws has very little value right now or even 2 years from now...I hardly see a .ws sold for more than $200 and there are tons of .ws already regged and nobody wants them.

There's even probably greater demand for .eu and .us than .ws

But its a different story if you developed it and worked hard on it....

I have a question about a similar type of domain, the .cc . Are they the same worth? Because I found a few good short ones and was wondering if they have any reselling value.

If you can find some generic dictionary .ws domains, it will be well worth the reg fee investment down the road when all dictionary .ws names are taken.

Meh - .ws has been destroyed by various MLM schemers that have flooded eBay (more 2-3 years ago than now, but still stuck with the same stigma in the eyes of many), and the shady looking fellows with the sports cars and dark glasses that pimp the .ws on late night infomercials.

If great names are still available at this point, it's a clue to be wary.
