ok I have been doing some searches for good domain names to invest in lol...Alwasy I see great .ws domain names that no one has taken! why is this? is investing in a .ws domain name a smart idea or not? thanks
Its because a few of the .ws domains were used in websites that offered Hacks, Cracks, Illegal Downloads and Porn because of flaws in the TOS. Since then .ws has got a bad reputation, therefore most of the people dont go into .ws domains. IT
Agree, there's no better/worse points on a .ws over a .com though people do tend to associate them with scams and illegal sites nowadays.
it all depends on how you develope that domain. the domain alone probably aint worth anything, given it is a dot ws. on the upside you can still get pretty good domain names there because the registry aint that saturated yet.
.ws is a long way behind the more established TLDs. However, if there are good single-word domains that target a specific niche available, it might not be such a bad idea to consider buying. Here are some actual .ws sales made this year: voip.ws $2000 blogs.ws $1600
A website is what you make it and there are so many possible variations of domains out there you can label any tld as promiting hacks, Cracks, Illegal Downloads and Porn, they all are there. I only have two .ws domains and one of them is car.ws - a pr6 - stay away from 1, 2, and 3 character .ws domains. car.ws was $500 per year registration....
I have a PR6 .ws site that earns a good $400 - $500 per month consistently. I have a few prize .ws names (multimedia.ws and database.ws) I've held on to.
If it truley is a premium word or phrase and the other tld's are reg'ed then I would say .ws would be a good gamble.
Yeah for sure give .WS a go I did see here: http://www.welloflife.ws But like any domain you need to work it. It is not which domain you get it is how well you market that domain, LOL listen to me I am the one that needs that advice hehehehe.
The .WS extension is fine. I have one and it does fine in the American serps. Just remember that it's affiliated with western samoa, and it's possible that they could change their rules and possibly not renew their domain extensions some day, or charge more for it in the future .. in other words, it's possible to lose that domain in the future since they have control over it. This happened with another foreign country's extension, I don't remember which one.
