Wrong Traffic, Wrong Keyword for Wrong Site!

I have encountered this extremely confusing problem (atleast to me). I wont disclose the actual url or keywords for privacy reasons. I need your advice on "what could be the reason". Thanks before hand. ok here it goes....

I checked the stats of my client's website and found out that during last month, the highest number of visits were originating from a keyword totally irrelavant to our site. I checked the sources and found out yahoo, msn, live and then google were sending the traffic.

I tried all kind of stuff to my knowledge ranging from keyword in the content, anchor links, anchor texts, link pop on all the SEs, manually checked results for the keyword, hidden spammy stuff...but nothing so far...

Will start the Adwords campaign soon but want to get back the organic traffic back on honest track.

Solve this puzzle for me digging deep into your SEO brains

The keyword itself is "pocket fisherman" which is sending me the highest traffic, but my website is completely related "weight loss cure". Poles apart!!!! what do you suggest

Well the url is weightlosscure.tv and the keyword is which is bringing highest amount of traffic is "pocketfisherman". Is there any logic behind this? any spam stuff going on? I cant make it more clearer than that. I hope SEOs of this forum should come up with something as i have got some replies from other forums as well.

Seoconnection thanks for your help, but can u give me your assessment over here, so that it is beneficial to everybody else as well.

I don't see this site in the Google top 100 for "pocket fisherman" (whatever that is). Are you sure your web stats aren't getting confused and giving you the wrong term?

Thats the whole confusion. The highest number of visits came from this keyword and the top most SE which sent them was 1st yahoo, 2nd msn, 3rd live and google. There is a possibility that the web stats may be wrong, but dont want to speculate any thing.

Dig your SEO brains deep pls, its a real challenge.

? Never heard this situation...I think you have that text in your website which is mostly crawled by search engine and backlink is created directly to that page which contains these word

Are you using Google Analytics? If so you should be able to drill down o see exactly which page is referring that traffic.

This is a strange problem, that I have never heard of. The keyword the google bot are finding have to be from somewhere, either on your site, or offsite somewhere there is a link with those keywords. There's nothing you can do except add new content and watch Google pick up those keywords.
