No doubt the P & R is a rail that will get you off track.

I would think it was a natural evolution in many ways though as there were so much of those discussions going on in GC and they can really rile some while sickening others so it was for the demand on one hand and to allow others to simply avoid those topics more easily ... just my guess.

Yeah, my brief forays into the P&R were just that, brief.
That really should be destroyed, eliminated, whacked, disposed of, etc.

Here is an idea:
Each day, let one person who volunteers be in charge of the forums.
By george, in a week, this forum will be completely new!

I actually love it when someone with little to no green pisses me off. Sometimes with just one negative rep... they go red.

 

I see most of people enjoy posting in threads like these.

I admit, they are always amusing.

 

There is no pressure if you do not pressure others.

 

I believe DP already had the "General Chat" area, for obvious reasons, ie., the keep the "chatter" out of the other areas.

The Politics and Religion were added later (quite recently) to keep the "chatter" out of the "General Chat" area.

At least that's my take. So there's General Chat, there's Policital Chat, and there's Religions Chat. Sometimes chat is not just chat. Sometimes there are all kinds of chat that warrant their own specific chat area.

I'm thinking the General Chat area needs a "REPUTATION CHAT" sub category.

 

I agree with your assesment - the GC is to keep off-topic discussions for a webmaster forum in an off-topic area. And as some are bothered, or don't want to be bothered, by P&R discussions, there's a sub for that.

As far as the Rep sub-forum, that's not entirely a bad idea maybe as a sub for this (Suggestions / Feedback) or the GC where folks can whine, rant or rave about it and then it could be further "protected" from reputation spam, good, bad or indifferent.
