While writting an article, is it legal to use other sites as sources but source and credit each face at the bottom of the article ? (The content will be written 100% by me but the facts will be taken off several sources). After that, would it be perfectly legal to post on my website? Thanks.
I am no lawyer, but if you are specifically taking stats, I think it is OK to use them and credit them at the end. You might want to email the persons concerned to take their permission, if you wish to steer clear of any possible danger.
In general facts can't be copyrighted, but the presentation thereof can. This means that you should be free to use facts in your articles if you present it in your own way. Just make sure that the facts stated are correct and don't use things verbatim. Also if this will be based on news articles etc. there are some news agencies that don't allow the articles to be rewritten, so be sure to check any applicable ToS on the source sites.
Basically, to get around the whole copyright problem when I write articles, I'll take about three sources, write down the information in note form then write an article from the information. So long as the information from the articles isn't exclusive to that site, and its all general, then you should be fine. If the information is exclusive to that site, then crediting them at the bottom as a reference should be alright, so long as you haven't ripped off their article. To avoid any problems always try to get in contact with the owner and just ask if its alright
