Writing Poetry

Thanks for everyone that replied to my last post about songwriting.

I've been doing a few poems and songs as writing articles just gets slightly boring.

Is there a portal like DP where people are looking for Poets, as I don't think it would be worth my while on here.

Any advice appreciated.

I've done a couple so could show them to people if they thought they could find me some work

But, a client contacted me last week re: some poetry writing he needed doing. I don't write it myself, but I'd be happy to pass your details onto him if you'd like?

I suppose you could always try submitting your stuff to publications and magazines.

 

Ummm, I suppose - i'll have to dig a bit deeper I think!

 

I thought posting poetry were just on a personal basis. But when I consulted Google I found out that there are online poetry publications like Poetry Bay. I think you'll find what you're looking for with more Google-ing. I just don't know if it pays well.

 

Perhaps joining a freelance site and then just offering poetry services or if you are already on one then you can open up a separate account for it.

Poetry actually pays very well.

I've only ever sold 2 poems, although I have written quite a few and won money for them.

£75 for 2 x poems and took me a couple of hours each. The problem with poetry is if you can't get into the subject you can literally have a brain block for hours!

I've been writing poetry too since I was a kid. It was always discouraging to find out there is no market for the talent and success is often hard to come by. The only way out is when you're really really famous.

If you come by such sites, or clients who are in need of good poets; please let me know as well.

 

I write poetry (for myself), Although I do share some. And I agree that there is not a huge market for something like this. But you may be surprised. THINK niche....

I have often thought how I would monetize my poetry if I so choose. I think the best way, And for you as well, would be to set up web 2.0 and social media profiles and Brand yourself and your talent. ANd network, network, network!! You never know what may develop out of it.....
