Hi! I am new to the forum, in fact this is my first post... I have been reading about article writing to promote your affiliate link - do you write 10 or more articles that point to the main site you created, or do you write 10 articles all going directly to your affiliate. Thanks in advance!

Its better to promote your main site, but if you can put both in there its great also.

Example promoting X product but also mentioning your main site.

I always promote my blog, and not an affiliate product when it comes to articles.

I think of it as promoting myself instead of just a product. If you promote a single product, your readers will just leave the site and never come back (if they don't like the product), but if you show them your blog/website and who you are, they will hopefully buy many things from you in the future.

Oh so much to learn, thanks! I will write some articles that are just about me that go to my main site, and some that incorporate both my affiliate link and my main site, give both a try. Thanks

Some article directories do not allow you to post affiliate links. It is always better to link to your website because:

-> It will build up back links to your website and boost its importance in googles eyes
-> The product page may have a sucky sales copy and you will need to presell it
-> By sending them to your website you can get them to opt-in to a mailing list you should set up.

I suggest you point all links to your own site. Then on your site, you can ad affiliate links. There are many benefits of doing this: like you will get backlinks for your site, many article directories do not allow any direct affiliate links in author box or in article body.
