Writing articles for other websites

Hello everyone, I know that one common way to gain web exposure is to write articles for other sites/forums such as this one. I had a question regarding this method. If I was to write an article for a website typically you are agreeing to giving them rights to your content. Since you are the original author can you still post the article on your own site?

Or, instead of writing a full article is it legitimate to write a summary of the key points of your article and link to the article on your website? I have 2 months web design experience so I am still trying to learn what is frowned upon and what not. Thanks! Look forward to spending time with the web design community!

I don't think they want content that is duplicated somewhere else. Otherwise, they would just take it and replace your link with something else.

However, you can probably get away with rewriting the content to use somewhere else. But it should be unique in the eyes of people reading it.

You don't want to take shortcuts when you are partnering with others.

Depends on how your promoting the content, if your guest posting, then usually your giving the content to the person, so you couldn't really use it for yourself. If your just posting your articles on forums, go for it, anyone can do that.

I truly agree, you should not duplicate.Again, make sure you do enough research on subject you are writing. If you do that, then you will write more than 2 articles a day. That is good for your site.Ensure it is SEO'd and Themed,There are 9 steps to that.

I hate seeing repetitive information, especially pissed off when I see cut off articles and the author can't respond to questions people answer since it's not his/her article. At least provide the link to the original post, people are here to learn as well. If you already wrote about something and on a forum someone needs that info, you can post a summary and offer a link.

Its all about the rights given with the article. If the freelancer writes an article and provides the complete rights to you, then he/she don't have to use/resale the article.
If the freelancer just sold the article for you then there is no guarantee/legal method to protect from being used on some-other place
