Do you prefer getting paid per article or per 1000 page views? There is more income potential per 1k pageviews but is not guaranteed like getting paid per article. and why?
Achieving 1k pageviews has a lot to do with the overall SEO of the site it appears on as well as the link building being done for the site - neither of which are usually under the control of the writer. Sounds like a pretty bad deal for the writer.
Hm....I think doing both way is acceptable. One one side, we need the money so getting paid per article is absolutely a must. While spending some free time to write and post it to the sites like eHow, Suite101, etc to support our life in the future by getting residual income. Others opinion ?
You answered your own question. This statement would be the answer to your "why" most prefer payment for the piece.
There are instances when I would prefer to be paid per views instead if I am confident of writing an attractive article. Of course it depends a lot on the site - Ezinearticles would be a good example. And it goes without saying that it should be a good pay for the 1k visitors
I prefer getting paid per articles. I feel getting paid per articles is a much better way to ensure that you'll actually get paid for your work. There's no telling whether or not you'll recieve one view per day or ten million. You do have the possiblity of being pleasantly suprised though, so it might be worth the risk. Really, it depends on your patience and whether or not you don't mind taking risks.
Per 1k page views seems like it could be a barrel of worms. How do you know that there have been 1k page views? How does the site owner know you've not asked some friends to refresh the page constantly?
If someone else is responsible for any aspect of generating the traffic, I definitely prefer to get paid per article. "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush"
While I do agree with building up a (passive) residual income, I would add that I'd prefer to do so with my own sites and/or blogs so I control the sites as well. What if you have a million articles up on eHow and they decide to quit and take it down?
I would definitely say that getting paid upfront is a much more lucrative option. You're not always guaranteed that you are going to get a lot of people reading your article. This is especially true if you write about some particular area that keeps on changing such as technology
For passionate writers like me, money is not that of a big deal. Getting paid per article is yet acceptable. Some writers just want to write, and that's it! Of course, what is the best thing of being in this field is you are able to contribute your contents to different websites and learn different techniques in copywriting.
