I'm currently a content writer and have been for several years. I love what I do and I am good at it but I am really interested in supplementing my income a bit with some affiliate work. I can easily populate my own blog or site with content, so that is no issue. The only problem is, I have no clue how to start. I have been watching some tutorials on YouTube but I'm really just not sure the best way to get going. If there is anyone out there who can help me out with a bit of advice, I would really appreciate it. Just PM me. I am sure it works and I know many of you are making money with it. I would even be willing to offer some sort of compensation once I find a successful system for anyone who can get me on the right road. Thank you in advance.
It's kind of hard to make money from affiliate programs on a blog (unless that blog is focussed on a particular product, service or niche). Personally, my strategy is to build stand-alone websites around specific products (or groups of products) and develop supporting content around those products. So for example, payday loans are a hot, profitable niche. I build a website around payday loans, write content about payday loans and other related products / services, then attract visitors to the website through various methods (seo, ppc, social media, etc.). If you build a complete website, with lots of supporting information, you'll build confidence with visitors and they're likely to stay -- and hopefully purchase or sign-up for the product. I've applied this technique in a variety of niches, and have been quite successful. The problem with blogs is, people typically aren't looking to buy or signup for anything when they read a blog. Usually, the best way to monetize a blog is to use Google Adsense or sell links / ads. Obviously, this has limited earning potenital (unless you get TONS of traffic). That's not to say blogs can't be valuable in affiliate marketing. On most of my websites, I also include a blog which provides news, reviews and information about the product (or group of products) featured on the site... There are lots of different strategies, but that's how I approach it. The first thing you need to do, is to pick out a niche for your website. Try to pick something with a combination of high traffic and high profit potential. Others will pick lower traffic niches since they're usually less competitive, but the earning potential is also lower. It's really up to you... but it's important to find something you're interested in -- or won't get completely bored with. You'll need to be an expert with your product
