I asked this before, "whats the point in paying someone $10 to $20 for an article to be written when others just steal them"? Well I had replies saying that Google ranks content by where it sees that content first. Meaning it should be my site. So that was nice to know, but today I checked some of my articles I have had on my site for nearly 2 years now. Some of the articles are not even listed within Google even though they are only 2 clicks away from the homepage amongst other articles that are listed. Some of my articles rank first with my site and then I have other sites ranking first for that article of mine, some I even have just other sites ranking for it and my site not even showing up for that article. So realistically if people think we shouldn't worry about paying for articles and then other people stealing them, you are wrong from what I can see. When they are stealing your written work, realistically they are stealing your money, they may not see it, but they are doing damage to what you are aiming to do with your business. Anyway, that's just what I found out from checking some of my articles today.
It is very unfortunate that so many people in this world *steal* and don't even give it a second thought. Their justification is "oh, I'll just use this one, it is on the web for anyone to take and so I'll take it". The same is true with images, although you have more control over them in that you can add a watermark. I agree with your statement that "it was on your site first so your site will rank" is poor advice. Many people here at DP post the quick, repetitive answer to common questions simply to increase their own post count. These people really tick me off because they perpetuate and distribute incorrect information. I think that G's algo is so complex, no one factor like post-date can truly provide consistent results. If the issue is really important to you, you could make sure that every article is one click from home and focus SEO on deep links to specific articles. That should go a long way especially if the deep IBLs are from trusted sites. If you are not willing/able to do that, then just focus on the fact that well written articles will build your following, often the best way, word-of-mouth. And don't be too concerned about G SERPs. I know that's hard. But using a heavy punching bag with the name of the thief taped to it helps!
Apart from just give them a revenge, I would recommend you build up both "deep link" and "root domain authority" to help your website a good ranking for a long term. Most of website that copied other peoples content and have a better ranking than real owner one just because their root domain has more authority. That's why their inner page got a big influence and better ranking somehow. However, if you keep build deep link to that certain page and get quality/authority links to your root domain then it would be a backslash toward the copier.
One if you are the owner of the content, you should be able to request that they take it down, or link to your site. If they choose not to do either one of the following, you can send a DMCA take down notice to their web host. As for why content stolen from your site ranks higher for other sites, its probably because those sites have more/better backlinks.
either the replies were wrong, or you didn't read them properly. You can't 'schedule' a call from the Googlebot. It turns up at your site when it feels like it. Which means that if someone takes your article, republishes it, and the googlebot happens to hit their site first they will be credited as having the content first. Other things being equal, of course, there's more to it than that, just thought I'd clarify that particular point.
I belief "Content is king" . We optimize website for search engines ,but our actual concern is visitor ,they are life blood of this business. if visitor will get unique content in your website ,they will come back frequently to your website. You will get all benefit for your content.
Making your site more authoritative is the best thing to do here. This is why I put the name of my site and company somewhere around the first paragraph of my site for at least a little credit.
That's easier said than done when you already have a site that is one of the most authoriative sites in your industry, but someone then steals your articles and uploads them to places like Ezinearticles with their links attached in their BIO making out it's their articles. But anyway, I just have to deal with it I guess. No matter what business you go into, there is always fraud taking place. The main thing is, I bought the articles to add content to the site plus make some profit from ad revenue showing within the articles, overall I have broke even with the articles content being there from the ads just showing on the articles pages which was my aim.
Unfortunately search engines leaded by big G aren't yet perfect to make a perfect judgement and ranking. I'm sure they are trying hard to achieve that goal and always tweaking the algo. In the meantime you might end up just dealing with it. i'm sure since you are putting the effort in a good quality content, you are developing credibility and authority/ranking will come. link building and seo gimmicks is a sure short cut. Good luck!
The problem here is, you pay big amount of money for articles, says $20 each which I paid. They are unique and original, you place the articles on your site. To find this information that is in your article, they have to come to your website to view it only, but due to others copying it, they then can just go to any other site that has ripped that article. Now these people profit from this article which cost me $20 of hard earned cash. Now the huge thing that really does get to me is the fact that you place copyright infringement on the article itself on our site and say it's now allowed to be re-used, but allow them to link to it which is clearly shown on the articles page. Now they don't link to it and just copy the whole contents of the article and steal it even with the copyright notices there. Don't you think that's enough warning as it is, if they want articles that can be re-used them go to the article banks and not steal work from hard workers that put the work and money into their project/business.
I feel you! there's people that will copy and paste your article before even knowing your url. in this situation maybe it's better to consider king content as a luxury, do it when you can afford and be proud of it. trying to fight back against the net just sounds to me like fighting against the sea except if you have the funds to implement a real strict anti piracy department and hire more people and more money to complain about it. i'm sure if your website has a good content people will find you!
I written an article which I put together from everything I learned in something from over 10 years of doing it. Well I looked in Google and 5 sites have copied and pasted the article on their site without any links pointing to my site and only 1 site had linked to the article without copying the full article content. So is that how the internet has turned, everyone really does believe everything on the web can be used for their own site no matter how much effort and cost has been put into producing that piece of work.
Yep, I can see what all of you are trying to put to the mass. Unfortunately the internet is not even a copy of the normal society. In that world you've got a chance to protect you against a lot of things. On the net you're just one of the billions and everyone can make a fool from you. Someone looked in you're site and found info? Someone found this use full (lucky you) if they gave you the credit. Once found out that someone used articles from my sites I went to that site and copied a couple of their files and put a link to them. told them what i did and they said they would sue me. (sick or what) at least I gave them credit. Some people are really bad in their behavior but at the end it's people like all of you that share this together, and knowing is preventing. thank you all for the good job.
You can file the DMCA complaint to make the copycats website into down Alternatively you can ask Google to remove the copycats sites will be removed from search results
