Help! I tried to upgrade WP and something went terribly wrong. I backed up before hand. Any idea how I can get it back to where it was? In other words, how do I do a restore?

I called my host and asked them to restore files from yesterday. I'm not real good with the tech stuff (managed to screw the upgrade pretty good!), so that seemed like the most prudent course of action.

I have to say that the WP upgrade instructions have some big holes in them.

What went wrong with the upgrade? It might be possible to fix whatever went wrong. If you need to restore, what process did you use to make the backup? (Feel free to drop me an email too if you want... you know the address. :) )

Uninstall all your plugins, because other than that theirs no reason for your site to break. Then, activate them one by one looking for which one caused the problem. Upgrading WP is only replacing files, nowhere it could go wrong.

It worked. It's back up. I LOVE Bluehost!

I actually have no idea what went wrong. I used the backup plugin that comes with WP, and verified that I could access it before proceeding with the upgrade. And I manually downloaded all the other files and folders recommended by WP. I'll probably try again next weekend. I may use BlueHost's automatic upgrade, since I haven't done a lot of customizing.

I couldn't even get that far. It redirected me to the first domain I set up on BlueHost.
