Well I was bored and thought that I haven't done many WP Themes so carried out on creating one. Please rate the design out of 10. Its still uncoded, and can be bought for a price. I had created each and every logo in this again, to suit my template, and avoid colour distortion. http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb243/Xenonz/My Portfolio Designs/WordpressPSD.png
The magnifying glass next to the search box needs work. The circle around the orange RSS and WP logos are jaggy. The grey polka dots up the top are distracting and don't fit in. The penguin thing is cool. I'm sure I've seen it before, what is it?
Thanks for the corrections, will work on it more. And about the Jaggy. Did you zoomed it Sir? I think not. BTW It was just a 2 hour effort. Penguin thats my Company's new logo.
Yeah I 'zoomed it'. And no matter what anyone says, those thin jaggy lines on the magnifying glass and rss logo ain't pretty: --- The penguin is very cool though. Thanks for calling me Sir btw.
Not really my cup of tea in terms of colors but pretty good Although I think you can size down the nav bar a bit, *(Home, etc etc)
Looks quite good actually, I'm sure that a little more detailed effort will make it look really special. Its really looking pretty good btw.
Any Suggestions? I'll try to see what more I can think of. It was just a boredom effort, I think I can achieve more if I put my mind to it.
The white version of the theme. http://img67.imageshack.us/img67/3609/wordpresspsdwhitelr6.png It still has gradients effect embeded instead of being pure white. And I agree that some parts need to be corrected a little.
mm, there are quite a few things that i dont like about this design. we'll start from the top: - the search box has extra space on the right which isn't used. either make the width of the text field wider, or the box smaller to fit. you should have either the "magnifying glass" or the "search" text. no need for both. - the subscribe button text doesn't sit on the same line as the other functionality. this isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it looks "stuck on" and doesn't mesh well. - the navigation could use some sprucing up to make it look more original. it seems very dead and unappealing right now. - that giant WP logo attracts a lot of attention and doesn't do anything. that is bad. - you have many size margins all around your design. standardize and use ratios. if you need more explanation, i will provide. - if you want to have ads, then you should integrate them into your design more fully. having one at the bottom is ineffective and frankly, ugly. - it looks like the pause symbol in the pause button isn't centered. - in the categories, etc. boxes, the "(89 posts)" texts look like they are another item. you can use color to make this more usable and more interesting. i can think of more, but this is enough for you to start with. don't be discouraged if i was too hard on you i'm that hard on myself too
point no. 4: - that giant WP logo attracts a lot of attention and doesn't do anything. that is bad. juicy imagery that attracts the eye should be useful in focusing attention to an area that you wish the user to look at for some specific reason. having the WP logo is nice, but it isn't juicy enough to justify having it that large and in that position. it doesn't give any real character to your template. worse, it is distracting. even worse than that, it is duplicated from the header and therefore unnecessary.
