Hello I am checking in with the wp world, does anyone know if there is a B2B plugin or theme available for wp yet? Are there any wp expert coders out there interested in quoting such a job?
    Thank you

"B2B" is a ridiculously general term. What exactly are you looking for?
What do you want your website to do?

Well I don't want to be ridiculous , so what I mean is a B2B forum or trade forum like Alibaba, Tradekey, Etc. But simplified , not as many bells and whistles.

Yes, you could build the concept with WordPress, HOWEVER, The sites that you referenced are custom builds that took a team of developers to create, and likely have a full time staff running them. They also are NOT built on WordPress.

To recreate something on that scale, you'll need to invest simular time, money and resources. You aren't going to be able to recreate a site that likely took at least 4 people, and (let's say) $50k, alone with no budget. It's completely unrealistic.

But if the question is can you build an eCommerce site? Of course you can.
If the question is can you use WordPress and a bunch of plug ins to recreate Alibaba or Turnkey? The answer is no.

Its best that you point out an outline of what you intend to do with your b2b site... That way we can recommend a realistic quote and input to your inquiry...

A very simplified version of the major sites mentioned. My goal is somewhat proprietary but we will migrate to a more robust application at a later time. So an abbreviated form: company names, contact, brief history and 1 to 4 products or services listed. Free sign up with ability (maybe) for paid subscriptions later. For one of our sites we have a pieced together system now but it is not practical. Something Companies will find easy to use.

No reason you can't the things you've just mentioned with WordPress and a decent ecommerce plug in and theme.

Now that is clearer. Yes its doable in Wordpress. I do customize Wordpress, and extending it wouldnt be a problem with your certain needs.

I laugh at people say something isn't possible in Wordpress. :) I may agree somethings are not done BEST in wordpress, but you can do ALOT in wordpress. I've coded full HR systems, employee time tracking systems integrated with iPhone apps, financial stock tick and trade call plugins...

So the real statement is.. Is it best to be done in wordpress? Sometimes no, but if a client wants it done in wordpress, can it be done? Of course!

Of course it can be done. But I'm not going to steer someone down a wrong path, just for the money, when I know it's not the best way to go.

I've worked on too many sites that should have never been built with WordPress that are a continuous nightmare for the client and they never end up with what they really wanted, in a way that they can run it.

Massive edits to the core, and running 40 plug ins is not the way to run any website. Especially when you don't have a full time administrator.

If you think you need massive edits to the core of wordpress, your obviously not referencing the wordpress codex.. There is a hook & filter for just about everything. Probably the biggest problem your going to come to when trying to recreate a site like alibaba & turnkey is the load balancing of all the visitors to hitting the site however. The DB of wordpress really isn't the best designed.

You know what I'm saying. WordPress can do a lot, but it can't do every possible thing. There is always going to be something that would be best done with another solution.

Yes, to me WordPress is the absolute best platform you can use for pretty much every kind of website. It's especially versatile as a one solution mobile friendly site, which is the future of the web. But nothing is good for everything.

If I need to run a forum, for instance, I'm going to use V-Bulletin.
