Which is better for SEO posts or pages in wordpress, I feel like my posts should actually be pages because they will be static, any benefits of converting to pages or vice verca

Both have its own benefits and pitfalls.

Posts are automatically syndicated, but for pages you need to add a plugin. Then also, sometimes it won't work in some RSS feed directories.

I'm sure you need both to get the most out of WP but yeah good pages with nice plugins would totally do the SEO magic.

I prefer pages because they seem much more significant to me than posts.

I prefer pages to, couldn't exactly tell you why though. I guess because I think they rank in Google's Everything SERPs better than blog posts do. Anybody else have the same experience with that. Also what are some good plugins to use on pages

Pages are for your static content, posts are for your fresh/blog content.

I am seeing a lot of my posts ranking for decent keywords whilst fresh, but quickly dropping out of the top page after a given period of time on some pretty competitive verticals. This is obviously down to QDF (Query Deserves Freshness) where Google believes that, given any number of variables, a certain query may require a "newer" article to be shown. Example: "Michael Jackson" would have brought up the official site up until the day he died, at which point QDF rears it's head and the top results would have been about his death, a news article, blog post, etc... Leave it a year and we're back to News - Wikipedia - Official site: http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=michael+jackson

Keep your longterm/evergreen content in pages, your time-relevant, spur of the moment, news-y content in posts, and you'll be fine.
