Hey guys, first off I want to thank anyone who is willing to contribute to this thread- you rock! I have a WP plugin that users can install but I don't want BlackHatters to simply download the plugin and use it without owning an account with me (and paying obviously). Do you know of any good tips on bolstering this security issue? (Ex. They pay, sign in to their account, download the plugin- which can ONLY be used via their PAID login info) Something along the lines of linking an individual paid account to the plugin (which can recognize the account type). This way, A.) BHers can't download the plugin and use it freely and B.) if the user decides they want a refund, I can cancel their account as well- cancelling their usage of the plugin. Simply trying to make this as scammer-proof as possible. Any other ideas are more than welcome! Any help regarding this issue is GREATLY appreciated. Thank you for your time! Cheers, Lug
Something to this effect I would imagine. https://wordpress.org/plugins/software-license-manager/ I would have to poke around a sec. I am not a huge fan of locking stuff down like that. At the end of the day its pretty trivial to get around this sort of thing anyway unless you encrypt the plugin which is sorta lame. EDIT... check this as well. This will also handle the download part... http://docs.easydigitaldownloads.com/article/380-activating-license-keys-in-wp-plugins-and-themes uses an addon for digital downloads https://easydigitaldownloads.com/downloads/software-licensing/
yes, or go for paid version of these types of software, a quick look into codecanyon can pop a few like this one http://codecanyon.net/item/phpmylicense/11719122
