    Hello,

Strange situation I find myself in. I contracted with a freelancer who began to set up a WP site for our business. I purchased a domain and set up an account with (mt) Media Temple. The guy showed me some progress, I paid him an agreed amount....now he has done a runner!

I attempted to contact the guy of a couple of months, but nothing. Meanwhile, I was racking up hosting costs. I closed that account down now.

I still want a WP site.....but I want to give it a go myself. I don't have any knowledge of this type of stuff (servers, email, Photo Shop, design....ect)

What hosting company can give me the best support and a resonable price? (mt) was a bit pricey, but it's what the guy wanted. I attempted to take a look, but freaked out a bit with all the techy options.

Any ideas or help? I can't afford to drop a huge amount for a designer, so I am going free style here.

    Thanks for the help!

    -Dave

I would suggest for cheap hosting a professional company with a good reputation is Host Gator. It's got cpanel so Wordpress is a one click install and you can setup e-mail/etc through there. There are cheaper options out there but for reliability at that price point it's hard to beat.

At that point you would just need to figure out a theme for Wordpress and get it customized from there.

    Wisedave,

I use Hostgator and have not had any problems. However, there are cheaper options if price is key. The lowest price approach is to buy your own domain and host your blog at Blogetery. The downside is some loss of functionality. Slight up the scale is One.com. These are based in Denmark and first year domain and hosting can be had for less than $20. They don't heavily publicise their WordPress service but this can be accessed by giving their included MySQL database a few tweaks.

I second the suggestion of Hostgator. I have used them for years without any problems.

I recommend HostGator as well. They have not let me down yet, been with them for about 3 years now.

Hostgator is good with coupon code you can get it free for 1st month, and other like bluehost is also good if you want to get it cheaper since you have to pay only $3,95/month if you buy it it in this month.
