It's helpful for the visitors to have a more broad idea about what your site is. It will give you more potential page views from your visitors. But i don't think it will help on your SEO.

Tags can decrease your bounce rate, it means it helps you to keep your visitors stay a little bit longer in your site, because they can have a better navigation with your tags. I think it is very interesting to see rotating cloud, and this may make them clicking your tags.

I think it helps SEO a bit, decreasing bounce rate.

Yeah I agree that improving your sites bounce rate plays a part in SEO, and the plugin does improve appearance and may cause the visitors to stay longer. But some webmasters actually "ugly" up the site to increase click throughs. I have several domains in that niche so I guess I could experiment with one and see if it does help with the ranking. It's an older site and the new template I'll be using has the plugin already installed so I'll see if it makes a difference.

    Thanks

It doesn't help with SEO and it's not pretty. It was cool for about 5 minutes early last year. Most regular readers don't even know what it is. They just think it's a bunch of floating words.
You'll get more use out of a search function, related post plug in, and displaying your categories in your navigation.

    I meant appearance :)

I already use the related posts plugin, and for navigation I put either the pages and posts on the sidebar, or for larger sites the categories as Google's webmaster guidelines suggest.

I was just wondering if the WP-Cumulus plugin served a purpose.

    Thanks
