WP-Comments.php, why blank page after comment?

hello,

I have experience this too much and now want to know why. After i comment on someones Wordpress blog, why does it most of the time automatically take me to a blank white page when it should take my back to the page i commented on?

What is going on? is my comment being put in the moderation queue for the owner to see?

could be your url is banned or the server is overloaded. likely the first. if wp detects your site as spam or if askimet is enabled and your url is banned then it shows you that blank page to stop you from submitting requests and taking up bandwidth or cpu time.

i've seen that happen for a few clients I've done. The url was banned because of previous seo efforts were blackhat or they paid someone and they engaged in spamming and got the url flagged.

 

no way that is ridiculous, this cant happen. i bought my domain about 2 weeks ago. i dont do any blackhat or anything to generate backlinks with WP quickly. is there any way to fix this?

 

Sure, stop commenting entirely or contact Akismet.

Even if they unblock you, it would be wise to use your real name in the name field, write useful posts, and don't comment on old posts.

 

ok that doesnt make sense, is my url blocked or my keyword? your saying put my name and comment but that has nothing to do with my url.

could it also be that they blocked my IP and not url?
i have seen this with my other sites as well

 

Akismet normally blocks by URL unless a lot of reports are coming from your IP. Also with dynamic IP's that can make life more difficult for unintended targets.

Best thing to do is trim your URL to its base (use no deep link). If your domain is blocked, try commenting without any URL. If that comment goes through, your domain is blocked. If the comment does not go through then your name or most likely E-mail is blocked. Through trial and error you can figure out what is blocked. Wait a few days and if the block is still there then contact Akismet as I noted.

To avoid being picked up as spam by akismet you need to post valid related content in your comment. I also think posting comments on a variety of sites too quickly can get you on the blocked list as well...but not 100% sure. maybe someone else can confirm that?

 

I always get that and i try to config in myself blog, and found that error getting because your ip + url was report as spam and filter was opened

 

I am getting this error in my ubuntu machine but I am not getting that error in Windows XP machine.

 

It's easy to test if you've been blocked by askimet. Simply use a different domain and email when you are leaving a comment.
