wp-admin 2.3.3 upgrade - Crap!

Well, I totally messed up. I tried to follow the directions and do what everyone said in my other thread about upgrading to 2.3.3. Well now I seriously messed up. I did back up the database, but I thought it backed up the entire site. But it did not back up the admin area. Stupid me.

So now this is the line I get when I try to access the admin area:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: wp_admin_css() in /usr/www/virtual/nocturnal_1/www.mywebsite.com/wp-admin/admin-header.php on line 20.

So now I'm contacting my host support to see if they can fix it. I doubt they will, they will probably want to charge since the fault is mine.

All I did was delete the wp-admin folder and upload the new one from the 2.3.3. download. I didn't do anything else. I decided not to do anything else when I noticed this error. Perhaps if I had kept going it would fix itself. I don't know. I didn't want to take the chance.

Anyone know what I need to do? In case support won't help me...

this problem is related to your theme that not supported the 2.3.3 upgrade..
    reinstall back without the theme

Theme shouldn't have anything to do with. Deactivate all plugins and reactivate one by one...

Mizak, you're wrong..a theme could be incompatible..but in this case I think it may be a plugin.

    Correct way to upgrade WordPress:

    1. back up your database
    2. de-activate all plugins
    3. overwrite all files in your WordPress main directory except for config.php
    4. delete existing wp-includes directory and upload new wp-includes directory
    5. delete existing wp-admin directory and upload new wp-admin directory
    6. go to your http://yourwordpressurl.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php and follow the prompts
    7. login to your Wordpress admin and re-activate your plugins

    That's it!
if there's still a problem, then there's a conflicting plugin, or your theme is incompatible, in which case test using the default theme.

How does a theme affect the admin panel? I thought it only changed the outward appearance of the blog . . .

Unfortunately it can. Change the theme to default, deactivate all plugins and then upgrade if you are real worried about your theme... If your theme is suspect then back it up first and then try deleting the theme from within your hosting account. If you delete the current theme and all else is fine with your blog WP will show the default theme.
