think about it, a webmaster forum, 117,000 potential dell customers in one way or another. i am sure Dell knows who's ass to kiss and who to hang up the phone on.
Sam you're 100% right I think Dell are retards and I know this because I've been a customer for about 3 1/2 years. Yes my contract is almost up and I'm singing thanks god! I own the xps600 and for the first year I owned it I didn't even have any support 80% of the time because they sold the product before they had xps600 support staff. I would call dell and be on hold for hours sometimes waiting for someone that knew anything about xps pc's In the end I hate the company but I needed the financing Anyways I had to mention this sorry if I flew off topic
Well done, Shawn. Curiously, when DP came back I found that a few (just a few) of my keywords had been dropped from the Tracker. Not a problem, I'll just add them back in. I'm curious if there were any other minor data losses.
I actually own a dell Laptop and sometimes there support is a bit sluggish BUT after hearing how they treated Shawn, The have sold me for sure, In the end they did good for him so yea, Well done Dell PR department ( and no Noobs , not that pr )
$84,000 bux worth of servers on DP and 117,000 members that use the servers, the negative impression would hurt Dell if they didnt kiss ass last night, trust me. you dont have to be very smart to work it out. $84,000 buys a lot more ass kissing than $699
And here comes the moral part of the story. Always get covered by the goodies Glad to see things running fine now
Not only three cheers for shawn, but also for Dell tech support - its TRULY reassuring to hear that not all companies are mindless drones with no human support. I think I might just buy a dell server box next time round. GOOD WORK GUYS!!
err - apart from on this thread? surely this is the best kind of advertising they could have - genuine "organic" reviews!
At the point that you buy a 85k$ equipment they will be so nice to you That gotta hurt support in any business is always a matter of luck. you sometimes call and find someone that had a fight with his wife before going to work and he is nervous (while you are also nervous because you have something down) and da da happens the mess. And sometimes you get an answer from a single who had a nice time with his girlfriend last night so he is willing to spread some love around and da da you get awesome support with a big smile and sweet kiss
Your posts are so rare that we should assume when you're making up a post, you're (sitting...lol) at the Datacenter.
Have you bothered to count how many times the word DELL shows up in this thread? The word DELL shows up in 918 threads and of those it's in 71 thread titles. The word dell is also mentioned in 1,924 threads, well, 1,925 now (google counts DELL here 2,530 times out of 383,000,000 total) One of the pages that mention dell (note listed int he numbers above) is this PR6 page --> http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/donate.html <-- Which in a way is GREAT advertising when applied in context to the page. Check out the info given about why new hardware was needed, and and it does look as if the new Dell can handle all those troubles... While those are not as good as some other keywords, it is most certainly mentioned here...and when it's mentioned by the site admin, then the value of that mention is 10 fold...as have you seen how Shawn is placed up on some mystical cloud as if he was a god?
Nice job Shawn getting things fixed - I can see that would be pretty darn confusing ... plus the hardware is so darn reliable. Very impressive response/support from Dell. So when you actually DO go to Hawaii, how 'bout some pictures? One of my favorites is below of my kids. With the timezone difference, you tend to wake up before sunrise on at least the first day.
