Hi Guys any advice here would really help. I created a website a few weeks back. I added it to all the search Engines etc. Then I put a news article from my site on Digg, 1hr Later my website had been crawled and indexed by google. I was getting around 35-70 UV per day from google. I had to change some thing around in My Page Title and Added some more Meta Keywords. Strange! - Google again crawled my website on 25th Sep and Updated everything, but since then I have had no Search Engine Hits and My website wont appear anywere for Keywords and Phrases The were showing on google Pre-25th. The only way my site now appears on google is if I type the full url in? Whats happend?
Sound slike the changes made site not show up. It might be google updating site and where they will list it.
If you Use Digg to Update Articles everyday will this Make your site rank lower as Digg Storys seem to rank on page one?
Might of been in the "Google Honeymoon" period...Typically G will rank fresh, new sites higher than they would normally be because of the newness of the site...The honeymoon period then wears off and you drop...It's typical.. Take a look at my thread Not your typical Google SEO list for some inspiration.
Hi Johnny, I suggest you visit your webpage and pull up the source code, check if you have multiple entries for your meta tags. Happened to me once...installed and mistakenly activated 2 SEO plugins. Ended with 3 sets of meta tags for one of my pages, and Google immediately dropped it off. Quickly deactivated so that only 1 set of meta-tag remains...1 week later my page was back at no. 1 page of SERP.
Yup it happens i used to rank on the first page for keyword "top 10 web hosting" . But now my site is indexed only when i search for my url
Yep... that's the irritating part about SEO, for me at least. Submit lots of backlinks...articles...and you can't guarantee that your site stays no.1 I don't quite believe in the sandbox effect though. So far my sites are index on Google's SERP as soon as I submit my site's sitemaps. BTW Johnny, on further thought, it may not be a problem at all. I encountered this back in feb-march. You can read about my experience with this problem here http://www.internetmarketing4noobs.com/2007/01/25/got-in-top-10-and-12-at-google-then-dropped-off-temporary-i-hope/ and http://www.internetmarketing4noobs.com/2007/02/02/rankings-back-and-went-up/ So chill man...it's normal I think.
The same thing happen to one of my blogs, I was ranking very well for a couple of keywords, and was receiving a total of 300 referrals from google. Until one day, when I practically stop receiving traffic from google, I really don't know if I my visitors will comeback, but anyway I will keep building back links.
It is a well-known and frustrating problem that pages, especially new ones, can get dropped for changing the title tag. This tag is more important than many so-called SEO "experts" credit, because it is the "link" that Google has to your site. So when it changes, you will have problems as Google needs to reconsider whether this is a new page. Hold tight, build links, and make sure the title tag is exactly the way you want it...and don't ever change it again.
but I don't really think that the problem here is the title tag. Because I have a very decent amount of back links with the same anchor text, and I never changed any title tag. One more question, all the cases described are back in the serps ?, or some of them stay in the purgatory forever?
Well It does seem strange that I change my Page Title and 2 days later when my site is crawled It's PR is gone. I was getting 200+ UV from G and last 2days had 0 my site only appears when the url is typed into google, It was ranking on page 1 for most keywords: Is there no coming back from this?
Actually if you made your post and then ping it, it would possibly get crawled in less time. This was also happen to my site.
johnnycash, see what james dean wrote, there is no other reason, it's really the honeymoon period. It happens with almost new sites, it was nothing that you did to the title or other place, it's simple google doing is job.
have you tried putting it back from its original content when it was ranking well or getting traffic?
I agree... It took a little while for Google to run through the thinkinig process and it's probably now in the sandbox where (according to Google) it belongs.
Relax Johnny! It's only about 48 hours (?) since the problem occurred...so wait a while. I have posted the links about my own experience in this. It normally comes back. If it does not, suggest you change back your title tag.
