Wow, paypal hacked

Never in a million years did I think I would get hacked. My password was strong, had good anti virus protections as well as spyware, but somehow they were able to get into my account. It seems I can't get into my email account i used for paypal.

So far I changed all passwords and all secret questions. What else should I do?

Well, it might look like you are a victim of a phishing site. Did you receive any emails telling you to log into your paypal account or to change some password or the likes or click on any link which seems to be from Paypal in your email ?

Keyloggers can bypass all security apps such as Spyware, Firewall and Antivirus. But Firewall can avoid a little though!

Always login to your any finance related site account using new browser window and type url yourself there. Never click any link provided by any email specially in case of finance related stuff (paypal, your bank, other payment processors).

    DON.

Trust me, I am 100% certain I havent been phished because my email and password are auto typed in already so I just have to hit login. Wow this is so frustrating...I only lost $70 but I cant believe something like this could happen to me. The hacker tried to be smart and delete the history from 'my account', but I noticed something wrong as soon as I logged in. Here is the history from paypal

File a dispute with paypal as a unauthorized payment you will most likely get your money back.. it may take 2 weeks for their investigation but at least you should get all money refunded.

You may have been a victim of phishing, try antivirus and keylogger removal tools on your computer as well.

Thats a serious issue. Anyways keep looking for phishing filter. They check properly for such fake sites. And never log in from any other link. Its good that you have changed passwords of your account but it will do nothing if you will keep logging in thru any other link in spite of typing the url by your own. Buddy be cautious because there is very thing line between getting into trouble and remaining safe.

The trojan could allow the hacker to access your PC.

Happneed to me a few days ago.

Picked up a trojan (Trojan.Horst) from a member on these forums. This can be picked up from a website without you even knowing about it...anti-virus progarms won't always pick them up.

    Read HERE and HERE.

    The member is now banned.
