I started pointing some coop weight to a new site. I did that yesterday. Today I do a check at Marketleap, and the site is showing 146 backlinks!

    Wow, MSN is really fast!

Its unfortunate that MarketLeap doesnt use AlltheWeb or Altavista anymore (and Hotbot for a while) as the variety made it a better guage.

I stopped using them and just check via MSN. I'm not sure why that happened.

Well... I have all my weight divided in small amounts, I have 11 accounts now, sometimes I even forget which ones I have :D

For this case I am using 89k divided in 4 ads.

I still don't understand how the coop works since I have never joined :)
How do the backlinks impact your rankings? Does your new site get some msn traffic?

The backlinks are just like normal backlinks. If the anchor text used is for a term you are targetting you will get a SERPs advantage.

They are still treated like normal links though. If any of the filters apply, they still will with the Coop.

I'd have to agree completely. I have stopped using them all together because of that very same reason.

I can only guess that either Alta and Allthe only allow so many queries, or have blocked them.

The lack of variety there seems to skew the results now.

Marketleap was nice because you didn't have to install software like your suggestion crazyhorse, and you got a graph to chart your progress and everything.

Oh well, maybe its just a bug and will be fixed in the upcoming weeks.

Yes I have to agree that Marketleap offered alot for free and in a way just about anyone could understand. I believe it was the 1st link tracking service I ever used. Loved going back periodically and checking my link growth progress over time using their historical referance charts. It was one of those free internet services that had me marveling at just how many wonderful free services (like digital point) are available on the net. I still use them from time to time...

By the way, is there any particular meaning to your handle "fryman"..?

The worst part about Marketleap dropping some of its analysis was that I was only 1,000 away from Coke. With that change in reporting I was then way behind again. I have now well surpassed them :D

Don't forget that all those benchmarks are very old. Marketleap rarely updates them.
