So, for the past four months I have been on Windows Vista, after spending atlest 80GBP to get it working, and finding out that it attualy made my pc worse, I finaly downgraded to Windows XP again. and the fact is, the differents beteewn them, my PC is now a gaming computer once again, now I have Windows XP back on here. Windows XP is for games, Vista is not. Also When I press my pound sign this happens: ## and this is my at " anybody know how to change this?
You need to change your keyboard settings. If I recall you go to the control panel, regional and language settings, languages tab and you can add a keyboard format for your country there. (That may not be quite right, going from memory) By the way Vista runs quite nicely if you stick 4 gigs of ram and a dual processor in
Did Vista ever resolve the problems with graphics drivers? If not, it's no wonder so many gamers are pissed...
Sorted it. And Vista is rubbish, it don't handle 4GB ram on 32bit verion. But yeah, I'm happy I can finaly play games on my PC again.
Windows Vista has a nice GUI, but is unstable. Windows XP, on the other hand, is stable and has a lot of useful features.
I am an online gamer and I don't really encourage Vista unless you are planning for a new computer, get a Vista by all means but make sure it is much more powerful with lots of rams. For existing stick to the old and reliable XP!
If someone is planning on getting vista I recommend getting 64-bit since it does calculations faster and is capable of using more ram.
Woot a new o/s coming out ? And i have decided not to upgrade to vista ever , as i think vista is a hog on resources, really awful system. Might just use linux instead of switching to vista.
Linux is the king. Only use windoze if you play games (for your games machine only), otherwise there is no reason now. Debian, red hat etc are all good Gui Linux OS
Well, in my opinion, #1 Use the O/S that's been bundled with your computer. That's what it was made for. If you're gonna upgrade O/S, bye new computer. #2 Microsoft makes Vista and cannot logically suck more. #3 Not popular enough among the real world to use.
You definitely need to get a high spec machine to get the most out of Vista. I know that many gamers are running 64-bit Vista but you still really need to be a computer enthusiast to run it because you may well have driver issues etc. It will probably get much better with SP2. Rgds Accel
My mom bought a new laptop that had vista on it. She ended up doing the same thing that the creator of this thread did, she downgraded to xp. She says she likes the laptop much more now.
I am also using Vista and found it be very hard at the begining but its good it as good safty measures in place which i liked and now just getting to terms with the system
