Joomla is quite difficult and complicated to get started, but it's really powerful and could do almost everything once you manage to understand it. Buy a book for amazon may be a good and fast way to learn it.

My experience with Drupal: I looked around at quite a few CMS's before settling on Drupal - it seems a tad more powerful than the others, and the community seemed a little less money hungry than a few of the others. It also seemed to be a little more 'community oriented' out of the box than some. (I run a community website.) I put up a complete site in one month - starting from zero knowledge of Drupal. I'm still learning, 'Panels', 'Views', & 'CCK' are still ahead of me - but I want something powerful enough that it can't be learned in two hours.

And I still haven't found a question or a problem that I couldn't Google the answer within a page or two. Even with the new version 6, there's plenty of available answers to virtually any question.

I have tried them both. Perhaps I didn't stick with Drupal long enough to learn it, but for me, Joomla is tops!!! Invest $45.00 in the book by Barrie North -Joomla- A User's Guide. After you read it, you won't want anything but Joomla.

i used long time mambo then when joomla project started i switched to joomla.

it is great cms if you want to spend little timee to learn it. it have very easy to understand templating systems,
big user base and bunch of available plugins...

you can make simple site and also big ones even i dont preffer to use joomla h-bomb for making blogs or simple presentations...

every cms is good on its way :D

I can put up a complete Joomla site in 2 hours - if I have problems designing a logo. But it didn't start out that way.

Started when Joomla was Mambo and one post (which I can't find) explaining Joomla worked made the difference in understanding Joomla.

    Try reading this: http://www.joomlawhiz.com/Joomla-Terminology.html

    And see if it helps.

While Joomla 1.5 is great, it doesn't have two of the things that I use all the time in my 1.0X sites, BSQ Sitestats and Ping. Also, I got tired of updating it once a week. When it's more secure and stable, I'll upgrade my sites.

So, I'm using 1.0X for my current sites. Mature add-ons that work right out of the box. A great Joomla community of extension developers, most of whom work for free. The only thing I've paid for is the template I use...but even then, there is a free version of it.

    I highly recommend Joomla.

I like joomla. It took me a minute to get used to but once I got the navigation in the admin panel down, using it became much easier.

ok...Joomla is not bad but just do a little research on Google with

    "+drupal +site +hacked" / hits 22.600
    "+wordpress +site +hacked" / hits 232.000
    "+joomla +site +hacked" / hits 1.100.000

I don't know what you do with your sites but for my business is security one of the first priorities and i can not and will not risk to get hacked. ok... there is always a risk on being on the net. But i will take the lowest possible risk... in this case Drupal. And Drupal has also a better performance, a more flexible underlying architecture and many *free* professional modules.

I like joomla that provide many nice modules that let everyone can do for e-market eg. CRM, mailing list, blog, etc. I like the e-commerce module "virtuemart" that so great. However I hate the ways to do url mod rewrite or seo friendly that I think it's very ugly and need more steps for rewrite to be nice name for SEO things. Expecially the menu that u've already created on the template, u need to change url manual on template after using url friendly on joomla. I'm aslo thing about which one is better blog engine between wordpress & joomla?
