Not at all. There are hundreds of editors who can edit in any category.
All you have to do is follow the simple instructions on the form:
A volunteer will review your site at some stage, but there is no knowing who or when that will be, because the ODP is not a listing service and editors are free to spend their time as they choose. It's a hobby, that's all. :)

I'll be honest I did nothing but submit a site i thought had real potential with real content and real fans :)
Id submitted crap ( i can admit it now!) to the site before without getting anything listed..

But best of luck Goosie.. Just forget about it and some day youll get a referer from dmoz and you know you are in :)

If there were less crap and people followed the instructions for suggesting sites properly, the useful sites would be a whole lot easier to find.

But that doesn't seem to occur to most people.

Ya know, I once suggested that someone follow the guidelines and an editor popped into say that such advice was shakey.... So that could be why that does not occur to some people ;)

Know what? You've been punting this claim for ages and I only just took the trouble to check the source (thanks for pointing it out).
In other words, your advice was shakey because it omitted a vital point.

I'm quite used to you twisting the meaning or intent of what folks say but it never occurred to me that you'd claim they'd said the exact opposite :(.

I did not miss a vital point at all. The so called vital point I missed IS in the guidelines is it not? Therefore, whenever ANY says to follow the guidelines and does not also point out what I did not, then their advice is shakey as well... right?

Even more shakey then my advice, as makrhod didn't also mention several other things that could potentially be important to getting a listing, like reading the description of the category...

    LOLOL
In one post I'm roundly criticised for repeating the guidelines and advice, and in another for not repeating the guidelines and advice. Gotta love the whole "heads we win tails you lose" mentality. :D

Soooo.... it's good advice when you say to follow the guidelines and don't mention anything about unique content, but it's shakey advice when I do?

Why is it that when I say to follow the guidelines to get a listing, it's considered shakey advice because I didn't mention Unique content... but OK for you to do so? Is it because when an editor mentions the guidelines, unique content is somehow mystically implied? Or maybe I was OK to say that the guidelines are worth following regardless of whether or not I mentioned unique content and that editors just don't have what it takes to call another editor out on it?

I've even started a thread on this subject (which has been deleted) to see if I could get ANY editor to agree that I was some how correct, but oddly enough NO editor would say it. Am I wrong in saying that following the guidelines is a good thing? If I am wrong, then ANY ONE that says it is also wrong (such as your post above). However, if I am correct in saying that following the guidelines is a good thing, and people SHOULD do it, then my advice was NOT shakey.

I guess what I am asking is what is the difference between me saying to follow the guidelines and you saying to follow the guidelines? Are both of our posts shakey because neither of us mentioned unique content?

(note, shaky does not have that E in it, but heh, the same member that said my advice was shakey also gets on me for misquoting them ;) )

Even metas can't agree on guidelines amongst themselves and your hoping to get official answer here?

It wouldn't surprise me if half of the metas declared their teaching of guidelines as the truth and delete 99% of websites listed as against guidelines and declare other half of metas not agreeing with them as heretics starting a holy war in order to insure domination - it sure would be funny to read in the news how several DMOZ metas beat up another meta for daring to speak against them. :D

Actually I hate wiki and would love to see it shut down since it keeps stealing articles from my website and pushes me from first place at Google for my totally obscure keywords nobody cares about and then I have to report copyright violation...

Lets hope nope , I think I`ll become soon like Ivan pointing out my own '' views '' :) since I think I`ll be banned from resource-zone ( where I try simply to ask some basic things ) and its seems Administrators and Editors from ODP don't know or don't care about the rules which they claiming they follow always . Like I said on resource-zone its second day when I`m browsing on ODP and I found enough links there to think - to really think all this rules which peoples say they follow they actually don't follow .
