being a mod is hard. I am already a mod for a board half this size, and can barly take care of it.

Moderating or being an Admin means you have to stop posting to a degree. You have to be much more careful about starting topics and what you post. Basically, you go from being a poster to an observer.

People who tend to volunteer for this type of position, are usually community minded.

So it really comes down to what you want out of a forum.

Personally, I mod on 2 forums already. I hardly even read them anymore. I like reading DP. Being staff would take all of the fun out of it for me.

They are... which is absolutely scandalous considering their workload (well, the active ones anyway). I'm sure they're only too willing to help out voluntarily but Shawn should really be taking the initiative to offer some sort of reward.

I think the King of Da Wackos could be mod, he's close to Shawn already... I bet he knows where he lives ;)

Neither would I. Its a tough job and seriously I wouldn't have time to edit all referral posts , to give infractions , to ban users :)

It is a lot of work and it does take a bunch of time away. The ones who said no are the smart ones.

Nope, how can one say it’s a lot of work if they’ve never done it? Here is an interview with Shawn, it’s not a big deal but it’s kind of silly estimating something of uncertainty to something else, here is the link to thee interview:

It’s time for a New Direction, lol.

Are the DigitalPoint Forums difficult to manage?

[A] Nope, not at all. One person could do it by spending 10 minutes/day in the forum.

And the ones that said yes are the dumb ones?

What if you want to contribute and you have a lot of spare time so you can actually be an effective mod.
