I don't think Microsoft is capable of making Yahoo better than it is right now. What I've seen when they buy companies is they typically neglect what is there, or else try to make it fit, and they don't do that very well. Check out this story from CNET about Microsoft's attempt to enter the search market back in June 2004. It talks about Microsoft at that time having 15% of the search market, yahoo 30%, and google 35%. According to comscore http://www.comscore.com/press/release.asp?press=2275 google now has 61.8%, yahoo 20.6%, and microsoft has declined to 8.5%. Those numbers really don't make me think that microsoft will do any better with yahoo than yahoo. It also make me leery of what will happen to the yahoo publisher network. Here's an excerpt from the beginning of the CNET article: http://news.cnet.com/MSN-launches-revamped-search-engine/2100-1032_3-5254083.html
I would still use their email service but their SE does not matter since I am not using them even now.
I have to agree with Jacqueline. I don't think Microsoft buying Yahoo will improve their SE market share. Currently, I use google for Internet searches and yahoo for news. I don't see that changing any time soon.
I will use them definitely..the reason why MS is looking into Yahoo ! is that Yahoo's technology could improve MS search engine technology and online advertising. and Yahoo and MSN would both become powerful and it will be very beneficial..and we need not depend only on the Big G
