    Unfortunately not at all, imho.
In your post, I have not seen any arguments supporting your statement.

It's a simple argument, if google return shit results then people switch to another search engine.
If webmasters optimize their site the proper way, google will present their site to the use as being the most relevant.

If we don't perform optimization, then how does google present the most relevant site to the viewer..we help google by showing them that our site is the most relevant..obviously this is if you know what you are doing.

Imagine a company has an open position of a company public representative. They need a smart guy to make a comapny looking perfect in the media.
Then they have 100 candidates and you are one of them. They interview you and the rest of the candidates and select you (or another guy), and you (another guy) make the company perfectly looking in the media.

    Do you see the analogy?

Now, look in my first two lines, and think if this company depends on you during the selection process.

Yes but as i said from the start, Google depends on "US", all webmasters, without us, there is no Google. I never stated that they depend on one individual..But if an individual is performing SEO correctly the way it should be and for some reason, Google decide to drop him, then you will find that a lot of well optimized and relevant sites will also fall which will in have a direct effect on the relevancy of websites that google presents to the user, they user may not be happy with the results and decide to use another search engine. Then Google would see the impact and realise that they do depend on SEO guys who can perform the job correctly..Nuff said.

I wouldn't really want him to do this full time..lots of hard work and returns are not guaranteed.Better to do with an offline job.

I think all you need to know about SEO can be learned on the job, it is always changing, so you can't afford to stay still, SEO is like HTML, theres always a new standard which all must adapt to keep abreast of the competition

Since SEO is very young, current days can be referred later on as a dark ages of SEO. So you are not far from reality in your comparison.

And those boys replying are hard, hmmm, painfully hard ;-)

Lots of people actually like the good-paying jobs for which they studied hard and prepared themselves.

If it would not be the case, business people would go mad and would be forced to do all the work done by themselfs ;-)

Hehe, I would probably tell my son something like that too. But, it is important not to forget that he should do what he is passionate about, because that will make him happy in the end. So if that is SEO, why not tell him to go for it?

He could become very rich doing it - unlimited earnings if you use freelancers to help you get the work done - I earn more doing it than I have done in any other job.

Will SEO still exist in 10 years? This is the question I would be asking as I am sure Google would prefer it if there was some other way for sites to get to the top other than SEO as it is manipulating the search engines.
