I loved Moo.FX (http://moofx.mad4milk.net/) for use on my portfolio design since it is small (unlike prototype+scriptaculous). The development of Moo.FX seems to have halted and taken the form of Mootools - although there is no mention of whether or not the code is still in development. Out of curiosity, would you still recommend using it? If not, is there something out there that is similar in approach (under 10kb)?.
Isn't moo.fx a framework built around mootools? (The same way lightbox uses scriptaculous/prototype?)
MooFX is part of Mootools, but there is a Prototype version and a version that uses a stripped-down Prototype (the prototype.lite.js file was only 3.5kb - less if you used compression). The Prototype versions don't seem to still be in development. Does anyone know anything about those?
no but moo.fx is now indeed an integral part of mootools (as functions of mootools-more.js in addition to mootools-core.js) in terms of how customisable and small this is, you can currently tweak your mootools download to only include the components that it needs. however - it is still not as modular as can be - as far as i know, the next version up (major) will be using multiple file opens that you can choose to include as you deem fit (as plugins) - it's on the roadmap but don't know ETAs. as for moo.fx over prototype, i can't comment. but the changes/improvements done to morphing and effects over on mootools are considerable... so go for it.
