I just don't like that some affiliate will promote anything with a high commission without knowledge in the product itself. It's like if a merchant was selling the Aids virus with a high commission, affiliates would be all over the internet promoting that sh*t. Even if they know the product doesn't work, if it has a good commission, some affiliates would sell that stuff. Another thing: two merchants are selling an eBook on how to lose weight. Company A's book is filled with excellent exercise and diet tips and is definitely worth it's price. Company A offers affiliates who sell their book a 45% commission on all eBook sales. Company B's book is mostly fluff and just promotes other weight-loss programs and is a complete waste of money. Company B offers their affiliates a 70% commission! On these affiliate "review" sites, guess whose book the affiliate will recommend... They'll give A 3 stars and B 5 stars. That saddens me *some affiliates
I agree. Its also bad from the vendors point of view. Even if you have a product on which you worked hard for months you will have to set the comission to 75% to attract some affilites. The problem is that after the affiliates commision and clickbank comission the vendor is left with $7-$8 per sale if he wants to keep the price of the product reasonable. Afilliates are too spoiled by 75% comission. I am for fair 50%, that should be the maximum allowed by CB.
The affiliates should fairly review all products before they start promoting, according to your points. But not all of them do that job. I am a lucky guy, almost all my affiliates told me that they reviewed my products carefully and made comparisons before they started. They give my products 5 stars, and I think my products are worthy of what they reviewed. But now 75% is fair in CB, if you want 50% or less, I would be very please to offer you.
@tanaka - You are correct. The first thing I thought is that no one actually buys the product themselves, they just find a product, read the sales page, and then promote.
And it sucks because there are products that I'm really interested in and when I do a search for reviews on that product all I get are affiliate landing pages with all positive reviews followed by an affiliate link. So I'm always asking myself if they're being honest or just trying to make a sale.
I'm saying this a publisher who has had a couple of quite sucessful Clickbank products. The affiliates are your everything, I understand that you worked hard a couple of months to make the product, but the affiliates are the ones that are making all the sales and bringing you the money. Even if you make 6$ per sale, it's an effortless sale, meaning it's on autopilot, you didn't do anything, and it's pure net profit. All the work was done by the affiliate, they put effort to promote it, build landing pages, and drive traffic, while you were sitting at a beach, drinking cocktails. I think the affiliates deserve a 75% and should settle for much less than that. I've had a 75% commission on all products I've published, and even though I earned on average 6.5$ per sale, you still earn a nice chunk of money. Also, if the product is 30$, let's say you get 30 sales per day, about 3-4 sales from those 30 sales will be without an affiliate credited to them, meaning you'll be getting the full commission which is 30$ - CB fees, that's around 25$ per sale. Affiliates are your gold, at least that's how I see them, you should always treat them right, and give them what you want, make it very profitable for them to promote your product.
