A simple way to think about PageRank is that it is the probability of randomly finding a page on the internet. A page has a certain PageRank based on the number of links coming into that page and the PageRank of the pages these links are on. The PageRank of that page is then evenly distributed through all of the links on that page. So... long story short... you need to get more links to your website preferably from pages that already have a high page rank and preferably from pages that don't already have loads of links on it.
