I'd personally look for a mutually beneficial relationship where you'd work for your mentor without getting paid or at a fraction of what they'd otherwise would have paid you. So rather than paying, it's a matter of 'not getting' what you'd otherwise take without the element of active coaching.

always some good input Johan thanks!

I understand your point, though you are a lot further a long in the 'ebusiness' than a lot of people. What if someone was more of a noobie. Do you think they could benefit of a more one on one approach while they are learing more of the ins and outs of a particlular area?

I don't think it makes that much of a difference. If the person teaching you is really that great, they probably don't care much about $20 an hour. With money it becomes 'just a transaction' where if you base it on benefits to both parties I think both get a far better deal. Motivation and dedication is higher etc. Money is like an easy way out, without money you owe it to the other to get the best out of the situation.

If a n00b came up to me and they really showed ambition to learn something completely new, I'd do it for free but teach them by letting them try things out on my assets. Building links, optimizing pages in the case of SEO.

BTW If we are talking a purely online relationship, that would make it a bit different. Then at least some kind of deposit would be encouraging for the mentor and proof of commitment from the mentee's part. Maybe that could be refunded as a performance bonus of sorts if certain tasks beneficial for the mentor are completed satisfactorily. So it depends a bit on the situation.

I'm a noobie and would love to have a mentor. I like the idea that has been suggested about accomplishing tasks for the mentor to build up my own knowledge while the mentor benefits from the work I do. I think it's a win win situation for both. I can't afford to pay my own bills and I wouldn't be able to pay for coaching even though I know it would benefit me in the long run. I suspect other noobies are in my same situation. That's why we are looking to make extra income online. If any one wants to be my mentor send me a PM. I'd be willing to work in a win win situation, but I can not afford to pay.
