Would you move a PR3 blogspot URL to a new domain?

I have a Blogger blog with the free domain, xxx.blogspot.com, that has a PR3. Not that high, but it's better than 0.

I want to move it to Wordpress.org and get a new domain name, but I don't want to lose the page rank. Would you move it? If I moved it, how long do you think it would take to get my PR back up?

You cant keep the pr for the site if you move it to a new domain as its the domain that has the pr and not the site:confused:

If your new domain has no pr then your site will have no pr.
Whatever site you stick on your old domain will have a pr3.

To get your pr back you will have to get backlinks to the new domain.
How long that will take is up to you.:)

i have recently changed my blog to a new domain. It is true that you will loose your PR for a while. But the backlinks will remain..
For example my old blogspot domain was simple-tricks.blogspot.com and now i have changed it to Blogger Widgets

Still i have some sites linking to my old site and they are treated as links by google

see Googlebacklinks. the first few sites are linking to my old blogspot domain..So i hope you will get back your PR in few months if you change to a anew domain..

I would stay there, or abandon it. How much traffic are you getting is the real question? Are you leaving blogspot because you like wordpress better?

Why not just redirect your domain name to the Blogger...then send ALL links that you promote with to your website...and then once you are getting traffic to you website...then switch.

How would that affect anything...I use plenty of redirects with my site...

I did that once with a wordpress.com domain that had a PR 4. Started a new self hosted domain, moved most of the content, redid what I did to get the PR, and linked to the new blog, and got a PR 4 on the new blog the very next update.

That of course was last year, it may not be as simple today.
I would still take the hit, and go for self hosted blog, think about the future, not fleeting PR.
Traffic, and control over your site is the main concern, and you will be better off in the long run.

I think the consensus here is to forward the domain name for now...if you would like, im always available by email...its somewhere on my profile im sure...I am always willing to help because I love bouncing ideas off of people.
