I would give it a go and change it back if it doesn't work.

    I have never reached 15%+

Is your average CTR 10% or do you just get it like that now and again. I have hit 10% a few times, but not that often.

That is a bad day. As you can see by the replies lots of people have higher, the question is whether to change the content or layout, will repositioning stuff bring in better ads or even ruin my serps.

I think the key is to build traffic to the site, with out traffic you make nothing regardless of how good your layout is.

you obviously have better epc than me then :D

DO NOT DO IT. 10% is just perfect and it will not raise suspicion to Google. IF it aint broke don't fix it.

Why would a ctr higher than 10% bother Google if the clicks are legitimate? That just doesn't make sense to me. Lots of people consistently run ctrs higher than that.

Now, if there were a sudden spike that shot the crt up from 10% to 20% or more, I think that might get G's attention and they may look into it but not a ctr that stays consistently high over time.

Shouldn't the goal be to increase ctr as high as we can while staying within the bounds of TOS?

If you can, definitely. But if things start to go downhill, go back to what you had at 10%.

That's obviously a good-sounding plan, but the danger is, as the OP said, ruining what got him the 10%.

What if he tries some new things, they don't work, his CTR falls to 5%, and then he switches back to his old format/content but can't get his CTR back up? I think that's his concern.

OP, what if you try adjusting a few pages, or sections, of the site? Rather than mess with the whole thing at once. Then you could look at the change on those pages, and see if you want to slowly start changing the rest of the site.

That's a good point. I guess it depends on whether the OP would risk it or not. I mean if you had a steady income from Adsense for a while, I'm sure you can rebound from any consequences of trying to increase your CTR.
