I am launching a gaming site that will plant one tree on deforested land in Peru for every 1000 games that are played. Online gaming portals are not that differentiated, so in the end it all comes down to basic SEO and link building. But before I spend my time on a not for profit project, I would like to know if webmasters would actually donate links for a good cause. So let me know your thoughts I'm new to the forum, so hence why I have not posted a link to the beta version of the site as I don't want to upset anybody here, but if you are interested drop me a pm and I will send you the URL. Looking forward to your comments
I've seen these types of causes before. You can make a blog at a site and they donate money to organizations that plant trees, I've got to look at it in two perspectives, one I'm a sucker for these things because I like many people want to do something not only for myself but for the community or environment at large. Two this can be where marketing campaigns and companies can capitalize. They know this and will spend large sums of money on advertising online and on Tv, radio, bill boards, mail leaflets ect, all to get you to know their cause and generate funding. I wonder though when donating or participating in the growth of their presence by submitting content(bloging) to their sites so they can place adsense on these pages for profit, how much funding would there be after their advertising campaigns? In a nut shell you help them make a monster site like (ehow.com) they reap in the adsence revenue then spend it on further advertising for more participants. This is why I don't join green piece as I feel that they spent to much money on advertising campaigns and diesel for their ships, I'd rather become a volunteer to a local land care program or rotary club, These organizations go out on field trips to plant trees monitor native animal habitats and remove weeds and rubbish and pride themselves on progress though doing rather than protesting about something that needs to be done. Thanks for the many pm's. It sounds like alot of you are willing to donate links to a good cause. The site is now live www.mygreengames.com and our first project is to get our skiing games page to number 1 for the keyword skiing games. (http://www.mygreengames.com/gamecategories/Skiing_games.html) I hope many of you will find it a worthwile cause and donate a link. Send me a pm when you have added your link, so I can add you to our "Wall of stars", our thank you page. Cheers!
I would, if I believed I the site / organisation was trustworthy. If the site content was related to that of my own blog, I would for sure.
No. My sites are meant to make money and just giving away free links only makes my job harder and essentially makes me earn less money. If anything, I would take money I earned and donate it to a cause of my choosing.
