Hello, Considering the Penguin penalties... would you purchase some directory links if you are trying to kick-start a brand new site that has no backlinks at all except: blog links, forum signatures... Ideas?
I would recommend starting slow and when doing it, ensure that you use as many variations in your titles and descriptions so as to vary your anchor text. You could perhaps start with submitting to 100 odd directories a month (of which you can expect around 35-40 links over a period of 90 days) Apart from that, you also want to look at other link building avenues such as guest posting, links from thematically relevant directories, etc.
I am doing tons of blog posting, but usually I use the site's brand name... 90 % of the cases to avoid keyword-penalties from Penguin. But those are 99 % "nofollow" links and with not much effect on PR, ... hopefully they will on the SERPs. What do you mean by "odd directories?" I hope not those low-quality bulk submissions... I am specifically avoiding them. I am 100 % ethical and Google terms-compliant Just that this process is so slow and I'd like to give it a boost. Site is almost 3 months old and sluggish. 3-5 people a day now aren't bringing anything. Didn't earn a single cent since it was launched.
