Just wondering, and of course by car, I mean a website or any other web related product? I've clicked on a few myself and it always puts me off contacting said people - its effective like eBays feedback ratings for me.
I would depending on the history of their posts. I can see how any person with honesty to post their REAL views and opinions that aren't popular could easily be sent to red. I actually came close to red at one point during my debating in the "anti war / pro war" thread. And I've successfully bought/sold more than 10 sites without any problems on digitalpoint myself. Maybe if the rep wasn't affected by posts in general chat, etc I would make more use of it.. but as it stands it's not much but a popularity rank.
Well, it depends, if he got the red for something dumb, maybe, but if he is like some loser here selling sites with stolen articles without crediting the author and stuff like that, then you should sure avoid the rat.
it the person had loads of neg feedback then i wouldnt but if the +rep out weighed the -rep then i probally would.
I think there are other things to take into consideration - I also get suspicious when I see a green bod with massive posts but only one green rep. Its fair to say there are a few people out there who are genuinely trying to do a good job, but I think the fact that rep is a peer thing here is a good indicator.
I was expecting Frymans picture to come back up there. lol Generally, people who are friendly and contribute to the forums don't go red therefor I would also tend to be suspicious of people with red reps before buying products from them. Saying that I have had a few succesful transactions with members with a red blob. I wouldn't buy a car online full stop! lol. I would always have to see it first before I parted with any money unless I was ordering a new 1 from the manufacturer.
Being honest seems to get you a red at this place and yes i can say that since im near enough in the red lol
The results show that people do care about rep after all... So, I guess Shawn did a good work with the forum
Yup absolutely! And I should have figured I'd get some anonymus reds on this post... I wonder where they came from...
I agree. Well done Shawn. lol I reckon the rep system is good for Shawn because it's an addon that makes people addicted to the forums.
yes I have now got a thousand posts and I do not see me stopping. It is more the people not the rep and that has me addicted! Thanks for the congrats Weir
In the case of eBay I'll always look to see what their -ve rep was given for because the rep there is public. A lot of the time it's people complaining because the postman tore the packaging or it didn't arrive the next day or something silly (we were Platinum rated traders on eBay ourselves, so know what unrealistic expectations some people can have). Here, I'd happily trade with someone with a red rep if I knew they got it for having unpopular opinions. But then you recognise those people found the other forums.
I would say GADOOD is a perfect example of this blackbug. He seems to be pretty intelligient and offers some good advice but he's a total ass to everyone lol. The question is though... do you want to give people like this your business? (not directed at GADOOD lol)
Is he the guy with the scary avatar with the dollar signs? Yeah, he's got attitude, I kinda like it when people don't give a monkeys what people think and speak their mind.
Just my thoughts... I don't know if I would ever compare the ebay(s) rating system to anything that would promote any kind of real trust, Opinions are opinions they don't hold any real value for anyone but the one who made the opinion. Like anything in life you are responsible for your own self. If you buy a car, then learn about the car, test drive it, ask questions that concern you and then and only then make your decision. Never base anything on a opinion that could be motivated for reasons that may or may not be true. jb
I believe the rating system to be a good overall indicator. If the choice was between someone who was green-rated and someone who was red-rated, I think I would opt for the green.
