This may be for a different section, but I am curious. How many of you would still be able to make a living online without adsense, or would have started blogging at all if the program were harder to get into, cost money to apply, or was none existent? Could you adjust, or is all of your momentum in one form of monetization? Just curious.
at this point I have developed a like for blogging so without adsense or not, I would still blog for the fun of it
AdSense makes it easier, but there are alternatives. It just means you would have to be more careful choosing what you blog about.
I would, I don't make much on Adsense anyway. It is more of a hobby for me but if I can make a little it makes me happier.
I make a lot of enemies when I say this, but it seems to me, That the relationship between Google Adsense, and Webmasters and bloggers is like a Pimp and his hookers with thousands of unimaginative publishers jumping through hoops for trinkets. The constant question from everyone on the buy and sell section of "How much adsense does it make" is the most ridiculous guage for a business deal , that I have seen since Enron, and over valued stocks. How can you base the worth of anything based on the skills and experience of someone you don't know, with the weakest form of monetization on the web, with the highest rate of fraud, controlled by one entity, that is in complete absolute control? With the vast opportunities that the web provides, and the sky being the limit, why is THIS the main concern of so many? And why are so many willing to jump to get a small piece of it? It's like someone saying, "I'll let you put my sign on your lawn and I'm going to tell you how to cut your grass, and after you jump through all the hoops...I'll decide how much, or if i want to to pay you based on rules that I may change at anytime" I don't get it.
I do have adsense in my blog, but I'm not relying too much on it. I've found some other PPC programs that pay much higher than adsense.
Some would blog without Adsense. Some would even blog not caring how many people will visit. Blogs was originally meant to be an online journal for anything under the sun without any purpose to making any money. But since ads services like adsense, blogging became ever more popular. Too bad many blogs nowadays are made for sake of making few dollars a day.
I will still blog even without Adsense (I haven't even applied for Adsense - well because my new blogs have just been started), if I have enough personal motivation to do that. I'm still blogging in Friendster, to share personal thoughts with my friends there. But I plan to do some blogging for money too.
Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against adsense, we have a crap load of adsense sites, but for my personal stuff, that only I own, it seems so limited. It just seems that the pedestal that some people put it on, and so many even basing their entire business model on it, just seems strange, as if, this program with all it's faults and fraud is all anyone knows. There doesn't seem to be much diversity with individual webmasters, compared to the opportunity to, basically, do what ever you want.
I started my blog without ads, I added AdSense to it only about a 1/2 year ago. It is possible to blog without AdSense if you do it just for fun. But if your main intention is to make money, then AdSense is a must
Well, I blog because I wanted to and it has nothing to do with Adsense. I've been blogging for about 1/2 a year and just added adsense recently. I don't expect to make money from it and I do not blog for the money.
I totally disagree. Adsense is not the only form of monetization on the web. In fact it is the least return, the most fraud, and the design of the ads have no thought to asthetics, or compatibility of any style what so ever. There are thousands of opportunities to monetize a blog or website. This is the attitude that I keep seeing from hundreds of people. "If you have a blog, you must have adsense to make any money" How can anybody with a search bar say that?
I did not say that AdSense is the ONLY possible way of making money through blogs or websites. I know many many others ways how to make money through web, from programs like TLA, ReviewMe, AuctionAds to other affiliate programs or possibilities. But this thread was about Google AdSense, that's why I wrote that before. ;-)
It depends on what are you looking for. Many people make money from their blogs, but others just make fun of it and spread some free time
