Would you accept this link?

Just got a request to put a link on my site. The link is for advertising a clay poker chips business. Since my site offers images for teens, I don't see how this kind of ad would be related to my site. The description of the ad talks about poker tables and accessories... so I'm about to decline it (pitty, because I sure could use the $45 it costs right now)

    What do you think?

Yeah, but I don't know what my other advertisers would think if they see this ad on the site...

I have nothing against it, but you know, the myth about these ads being bad neighborhoods could make my other advertisers unconfortable...

I wouldn't consider a site that sells stuff like that a "gambling" site.

But obviously you know your site and advertisers best.

I wouldn't touch a gambling related link at all, even if its only for poker chips or something like that.

Just took a closer look at the site and they are just a store that sells this stuff... Google seems to like it since they have several adsense banners with related ads. So, if google can accept them, I guess I can also :D

Look, if the seller doesnt have like links to party poker or promoting poker online/gambling online. It is a legitamite business, he is selling game supplies.

If you reject that ad - it will probably bode well for future advertisers who would see the link, prejudge your site and bail asap with their last thought being paying for advertising.

In the link building for gaming sites industry it's probably pretty common to put innocent looking sites out to bait quality links then link through from the bait site to the principal site.

IMO it's what you turn down as much as what you accept when it comes to advertising and in this case would not accept the link.

I know from one of my directories (with automatic, non edited submissions), that whenever there is a gambling site spammed into it, I get emails from those who are listed on the same page. So yes, I see a potential problem.

If it was about my web site I would decline it as I always do with such sites, but only because I was scammed by them with free link exchange.
But where the link will be placed? Will it be too visible and annoying for your other advertisers?

I would agree with those that advise against it. Although from an SEO or visitor perspective there is nothing wrong with it, perception is a huge part of link selling.

If prospective buyers see an ad that even mentions poker, some may not buy and the price you can get will drop overall.

Its a shame though because if it is just a site selling supplies and not a gambling site, it shouldn't be that way. There is a huge difference.
