And should I accept barter and trade if my customers feel it's "convenient"? How about a truckload of apples? These have monetary value as well and a farmer may feel this is a convenient way to do business.

You really should do some research into what happened at Mt Gox, once the largest bitcoin exchange. Because of security loop holes, customers lost hundreds of millions of dollars worth of bitcoins due to a series of hackings that had gone unnoticed over several years. For me, it's a no-brainer. I'm in business to make money and if a form of payment is not secure or desirable, I simply won't use it.

More and more big online companies are accepting bitcoins.
NewEgg was the latest earlier this week.
    Expedia accepts bitcoins.
It will be an accepted method of payment with all companies by the end of the year.

I have lost a lot on egold, stormpay etc. in the past.
If bitcoin sounds the same I would rather not give a go on it.
Many are experiencing good on this processor system but only long term experienced people may know the future about this kinds of payment platform.
